I didn't watch the debate. Intentionally. Palin has a wide mouth that often distracts me.

I didn't see where Biden looked polished or Palin seemed more intelligent than before. What I did notice is that Biden spoke as if he were running for president. I can imagine Obama and Biden getting along like oil and water.

Traditionally the VP is a silent type that works in the shadows. Biden still wants to be president.

The VP is the president of the Senate and is FAR less visible than even senior congressmen. It's a quiet position regardless of which party holds the WH.

Except for that weekend when Cheney shot his friend in the face.

Anybody remember Clinton's VP? It wasn't that long ago.

Yeah, we all understand that. No more so than McCain.

But we all don't understand that the VP is a behind the curtains guy/gal.

Aside from being on (opposite ends of) a similar GOP spectrum, McCain and Bush ain't quite drinkin' buddies.

Why didn McCain lose in previous pres elections? Not Republican enough.
Read some of the commentary early on in this campaign -- many of the GOP pundits all said he didn't have a chance. Why? Same reason -- wasn't Republican enough.

Boon Mee even called him GOP-lite.

Seems Biden didn't get the memo.

He wanted to be President too.

I agree with you once a Pres is elected the VP generally becomes irrelevant. I also believe Chaney played a major role in his "advisory" capacity in the GWB admin than is generally the rule.

Although I believe Palin will take a distant back seat as VP if McCain is elected, she is during the campaign, going to attract a greater degree of attention and scrutiny because she is a woman. Hence the huge interest in the VP debate.

I watched this deabte with great interest. Palin's replies seemed very rehearsed and I'm suprised she got through through it without any major blunders.
