The police don't prosecute anyone you thick twat.

They submit cases to the Crown Prosecution Service and it is they that decide if there are grounds to proceed with a prosecution.

They are completely independent of both the Police and Government.

It still seems odd that so little has been announced about these vile crimes. Those using public transport deserve to be informed about the risks they're facing. Were there two perps acting together? That's not some nutter having a mental health meltdown.

The investigation step is the big problem. In many countries the police don't have the resources or the fire in their bellies to investigate what to them are minor offences. Often the only reason we bother reporting an incident such as a home being burgled to the police, is for insurance purposes. Everyone, including the burglars and potential burglars, know the police have very little enthusiasm in investigating such crimes.

One of the two men arrested has now been released. Police say they now believe he was not involved. The other man arrested is a 32 year old British man. He is described as black and from Peterborough, where he boarded the train.
