Which has nothing to do with Tax's idiotic claim that the police are reluctant to prosecute anyone.

Police will attend if the suspect is still on site, or if there is evidence such as CCTV. Otherwise, given their limited resources, they will often not bother pursuing minor crimes where there isn't a realistic chance of a successful arrest and prosecution.

In a case like this they will interview the suspect(s) in custody, as well as witnesses, and review CCTV and forensic evidence, before submitting a case to the CPS that will pretty well guarantee prosecution.
