I don't think Mr. Trump is a nice man. At times he has behaved badly. He's entitled to his day in court. That's not ridiculous. At least he's now not facing a court biased against him.

Just to set the record straight, Trump was convicted for sexual abuse towards Carrol. Further more it was two juries that found him guilty (first one sexual abuse, second one defamation). Defamation awards are designed to be punative particularly against someone who repated the defmation time and time again.

Just to set the record straighter, there was no 'conviction'. This was a civil dispute which do not result in convictions. They also have lower standards of evidence than a criminal case. i.e. balance of probability rather than beyond reasonable doubt

He was found legally liable for damages, he was not found 'guilty', which is a verdict for a criminal conviction.

Correct. He is a legally adjudicated sex pest, just not a convicted one (luckily for him and shame for everyone else).
