There's a British psychiatrist on youtube called Dr Russell Razzaque posting some good short videos on Trump. He suggests the issues aren't important for Trump. It's Trump's desperate need for attention that drives him. Trump spouts off to get attention. President Trump doesn't really give a shxt about Greenland. He gives a shxt about the attention. I think this is consistent with Bolton's observations on Trump - Trump is unfit for office and he prioritizes his own personal interests ahead of the US's interests. Trump doesn't care that he has a very limited understanding of international politics.

It is a common and accurate observation made of Trump that he is narcissistic to an unhealthy degree, and that this significantly influences his political behaviour.

But to say that this is his only motivation is a bit of an overstatement I think.

I think he does have a political vision for America and he is motivated by a desire to see his vision realised.

As a silver lining to his solipsistic self-regard, his narcissism does make him a formidable opponent in negotiations since adversaries are very wary of offending him.

In theory, yes. Do we actually know exactly what tariff rates on what goods from what countries? Bearing in mind that it starts tomorrow.

Ahead of the Trump administration’s so-called “liberation day” on April 2, which will clarify the extent of U.S. tariff actions and spur likely reprisals from other countries, Goldman Sachs also lifted its forecast for U.S. inflation this year. Goldman said it now expects three interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve in 2025.

That will be music to Trump's ears. One of his core objectives, lower interest rates.

He will tell us tomorrow. Whatever it is will be 25% that seems to be his math cut off point. I wonder if Oz can get out of this Aukus deal.

Pete Hegseth has a new tattoo spotted at a marines bash in Hawaii

    President Trump - 2nd Term-screenshot-2025-04-02-04-04-a

The tattoo features the Arabic word "kafir" (كافر), which translates to "disbeliever" or "infidel"

His tattoos had already attracted attention late last year. He has a tattoo Deus Vult meaning God Wills It on his bicep, which was a rallying cry of Christians during the crusades. He also has the Jerusalem Cross tattooed on his chest which was a banner of 11th century crusaders.

The new one with Kafir could be politically problematic in our squeaky clean secular western world. It is curious and strange to see the fire of tribal religious passion turned round against Islam, instead of it coming from Islam.

I agree. I'm no fan of Trump but I think his vision is clear - Make America Great Again - probably by any means. Whether he achieves it is anybody's guess but all his geo-strategic stuff and tariffs are (to him) ways to achieve that goal. He doesn't care about hurting anybody's feelings along the way, especially the feelings of non-Americans.

His anti-China viewpoint is not because of any current threat to the USA but because he sees China's rise as a future threat to America's global hegemony.

Don't be silly, he's as thick as shit.

He nicked that slogan off Reagan because he knows all the Boomers loved him.

He hasn't got a fucking clue what he's doing, Stephen Miller is just telling him the trumpanzees will love him for doing it and that's all he cares about.

Yeeeaaayyy its liberation day, happy liberation day Merca

All the Orange Child is going to achieve with all this is; cost US citzens more in the pocket, further drive a wedge between the US and its "allies" and last but not least drive its markets for goods into the hands or China, India, Taiwan, Japan, the hated EU etc and they will not get these markets back.....this is all great fun. Still the US will have Mexico and Canada to trade with.

well yes for the comfortable retired like me and many of us oldies who have had good education and rewarding work to build up a "wedge " for our dotage

I fear it may trigger a global recession that will reduce the global income ad wellbeing, of course Trumps backers and elites won't take a smaller slice of a shrunken pie meaning less to go round for all esp thoise already on the borders of penury sickness and destitution.

The markets who determine bond rates hence interest rates and how fast those on the treadmill must run dislike uncertainty which is the one consistent thing about Trump and his childish outbursts that never threaten his wealthy backers.

Impoverishing Canada or EU bad enough but removing small Aid programs in Africa seems obscene when we recall America's prosperity wa sbased on American slaves sold by muslim Arbas to greedy Englishmen and used as agricultural machinary and prostitutes by the founding fathers et al.The profits built the wealth of Liverpool , manchester (Cottonopolis) Glasgow, Bristol and London and enriched the cotton picking USA.
Russia went from being 2nd strongest army in the world to being the 2nd strongest in Ukraine

    Is the bromance over, already?

President Donald Trump has told his inner circle, including members of his Cabinet, that Elon Musk will be stepping back in the coming weeks from his current role as governing partner, ubiquitous cheerleader and Washington hatchet man.
The president remains pleased with Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency initiative but both men have decided in recent days that it will soon be time for Musk to return to his businesses and take on a supporting role, according to three Trump insiders who were granted anonymity to describe the evolving relationship.

And I would love to know which of the orange turds family and associated cronies had placed shorts in anticipation.

But of course no-one can investigate that until 2029 at the earliest.

They'll get pardons before President Trump leaves office. The Dems can't whine about that.

We're in for a crazy ride with these moronic tariffs. This isn't about MAGA. Mr. Trump is trying to make Trump great.

White House to ignore reporters who list gender pronouns

"Any reporter who decides to include their preferred pronouns in their bio clearly disregards biological reality or truth and therefore cannot be relied upon to write an honest story," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said

WASHINGTON, April 10. /TASS/. The White House will not engage with questions from reporters who use a pronoun different from their biological sex, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told The Washington Post newspaper.

This pertains to instances where reporters list their preferred pronouns in correspondence. For example, transgender individuals may use "he/him" or "she/her," based on their gender identity, while non-binary individuals who do not identify strictly as male or female may request to be addressed as "they/them." The practice of specifying pronouns became notably widespread during former US President Joe Biden's tenure.

"Any reporter who decides to include their preferred pronouns in their bio clearly disregards biological reality or truth and therefore cannot be relied upon to write an honest story," Leavitt said.

This decision marks US President Donald Trump’s administration's latest step toward endorsing the policy of recognizing only two genders, male and female, that are unchangeable, the paper wrote. Several reporters from other news outlets have already been denied responses from the White House due to the inclusion of pronouns in their emails, The Washington Post noted.

The 401(k) is one of the top retirement saving options for many people. Empower data shows that the majority of Americans contribute to a retirement plan (70%), though contributions vary by generation: Only 47% of Gen Zers say they save in a retirement plan, such as a 401(k) or 403 (b), compared to 75% of Millennials and 76% of Gen Xers.

The average 401(k) balance by age

    50s - $592,285
