Spare me. Every other day there is a report about a Trump supporter assaulting muslims, torching mosques etc. Where is your outrage when this kind of shit happens?Originally Posted by Cold Pizza

Good find ENT. Quite noticeable that nearly all of the denial of free speech events comes from the "left". The only two listed as coming from the "right" would appear to be coming from hard-core religious groups that don't want to hear anybody defend abortion. That seems to be the only issue on with this "right" wished to shut down the debate.
The left don't appear to be willing to hear much of anything except stuff they already believe. They must be terrified of somebody saying things that might make them think twice. Surely they have "safe zones" all set up where all things spoken or written are carefully filtered out so as not to offend them....or cause "triggers"
What a great learning environment.
Much of England's more genteel society were shocked and offended when Charles Darwin published and lectured on his "Origin of Species" Women covered their ears, people walked out in disgust.
Mr Darwin, you have said we are descended from monkeys, pray say it isn't so....it cannot be so.....
Universities of all places should be willing to open up debate on anything....being as they (faculty and student body) are supposed to be so learned, intelligent, tolerant and open to ideas. Clearly a great many of them do not seem to be what they imagine themselves to be.
The subject is tolerance. It is important to point out that many conservatives are the most tolerant people around. They are tolerant of racism, bigotry, sexism, misogyny and alternate facts. Give yourselves a big round of applause.![]()

I said 'many' conservatives. If I would have said 'all' conservatives I would have been guilty of a generalization fallacy.Originally Posted by koman
Ah yes, that pinnacle of Ivy League erudition, UCLA (the University of Compton at Los Angeles).
Nobody will ever know how much of a spastic he is if he is violently prevented from speaking. Education with walls is not education. Voltaire anyone?!
...but then isn't this the shrill warcry of the left, who already have all the answers?

Yeah, you're just hedging instead...
Argumentum Ad PopulumArgumentum Ad Populum
Abstract: The argument based upon what most or all people think or believe is characterized and shown to be sometimes persuasive but normally fallacious.
...throw in a Straw Man for good measure, why don't ya ...there's your "Rule of Three".

^Maybe you need to look the meanings of many, most and all. They are different.
Literally yes, but your inference is what is different.
let me guess....you have an "alternative literalism" to go along with your "alternative facts"..Originally Posted by CaptainNemo

^So that makes it ok that there were only 2-3 injuries and no arrests. How many people does it take to be either arrested or injured...to make it not ok to stop free speech?
There was one arrest.
The question to be answered is why only one?Edward Thomas Kuo, a 19-year-old man who is not affiliated with the campus, was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of remaining “in the place of a riot,” according to UCPD spokesperson Sgt. Sabrina Reich.
