Milo Yiannopoulos Resigns From Breitbart News After Pedophilia Comments

Milo Yiannopoulos, the conservative polemicist whose endorsement of pedophilia instigated outrage over the weekend, resigned on Tuesday from Breitbart News, the hard-right news and opinion website where he was a longtime editor.

“I would be wrong to allow my poor choice of words to detract from my colleagues’ important job, which is why today I am resigning from Breitbart, effective immediately,” Mr. Yiannopoulos said at a news conference.

“This decision is mine alone,” he said.

Mr. Yiannopoulos’s resignation followed days of tumult that intensified over the weekend after a conservative group called the Reagan Battalion posted a video that showed him condoning sexual relations between men and boys as young as 13 and jokingly dismissing the gravity of pedophilia by Roman Catholic priests.

On Monday, the organizers of the Conservative Political Action Conference revoked its invitation for Mr. Yiannopoulos to speak this week, and the publisher Simon & Schuster said it was canceling the publication of his book, “Dangerous.”

Appearing in rented office space in Lower Manhattan on Tuesday, Mr. Yiannopoulos, in a sober suit and red tie, was both contrite and defiant. He apologized for his remarks, “I don’t think I’ve been as sorry about anything my whole life,” but also said he had been the victim of a “witch hunt” by detractors trying to derail his career.

He said that he would move forward with publishing a book, saying other publishers were interested, and that he was planning to start a media venture of his own. “I’m proud to be a warrior for free speech and creative expression,” Mr. Yiannopoulos said, adding, “I’m not going anywhere.”

Mr. Yiannopoulos’s announcement was met with glee in some quarters and dismay in others. Some commenters on Breitbart.com expressed disappointment that the site had severed ties with one of its marquee provocateurs, suggesting the site had given in to pressure from liberal critics.

But within the Breitbart newsroom, there was a sense that Mr. Yiannopoulos had gone too far in his remarks on pedophilia. Alex Marlow, Breitbart’s editor in chief, called the comments “indefensible” and “appalling” during his radio program on Tuesday morning. One staff member said that while many of his colleagues were pained to see their site under attack, they believed that Mr. Yiannopoulos’s extreme remarks had given him no choice but to leave.

In the past, Breitbart steadfastly defended Mr. Yiannopoulos even after he made provocative, critical statements about Muslims, transgender people, immigrants and women’s rights. Even on Tuesday, the site still offered a degree of support.

In a statement on Tuesday, Breitbart News praised Mr. Yiannopoulos’s “bold voice,” adding, in words sure to inflame some liberals, that the provocateur “has sparked much-needed debate on important cultural topics confronting universities, the L.G.B.T.Q. community, the press, and the tech industry.”

On his program, Mr. Marlow also defended Mr. Yiannopoulos, saying there was no evidence Mr. Yiannopoulos had acted as a sexual predator and that he had been a victim of a “coordinated hit” by liberal groups intent on hurting his ascent.

“There seems to be growing evidence that this was all coordinated to wait for a peak moment when Milo was red-hot,” Mr. Marlow said. “They sat on this story and they held it for maximum political damage.”

This is not the first time that Mr. Yiannopoulos, a staunch defender of the so-called alt-right — a far-right fringe movement that embraces white nationalism and a range of racist and anti-immigrant positions — and an avid supporter of President Trump, has inspired outrage. His lectures on college campuses have been met with protests that have at times turned violent. Several weeks ago, his planned speech at the University of California, Berkeley, was canceled after rioters set fires and smashed windows. (The cancellation, in turn, prompted a debate about free speech while also drawing a rebuke from Mr. Trump on Twitter.)

The board of the American Conservative Union, which decided to rescind Mr. Yiannopoulos’s speaking invitation, denounced his comments on Monday, calling them “disturbing.” At Breitbart, staff members debated whether he should be allowed to remain. “It was something that was a total surprise to people in the Breitbart organization,” Mr. Marlow said on the radio program.

Mr. Yiannopoulos tried to explain his comments in posts on his Facebook page, saying he was a victim of his own “British sarcasm, provocation and gallows humor,” but his explanations appeared to have little effect.

Different world now, 13 is far too young to have sex with older men or women, those people who do are just being selfish at best, youngsters messing around with each other is different altogether.

As for the hypocrisy from the shriektards, well that is self evident from the standards they hold milo to, in comparison with the leeway they give their own.

CPAC Helped Bring The ‘Alt-Right’ Into The Conservative Movement. Now Insists It Wants Them Out.

"This week, the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the annual right-wing summit hosted by the American Conservative Union (ACU), plans to feature a speech titled “The Alt Right Ain’t Right at All” by ACU executive director Dan Schneider.

Schneider’s planned speech on the dangers of the racist Alt-Right comes just as its adherents are finding success in shaping President Trump’s ideas and his White House team.

While recognizing the need for a speech denouncing the Alt-Right, CPAC nonetheless asked Alt-Right apologist Milo Yiannopoulos to be its keynote speaker, only to later withdraw the invitation after critics pointed out Yiannopoulos’ past remarks about sex between adults and young teenagers. In addition, ACU chairman Matt Schlapp plans to host White House strategist Steve Bannon, who bragged about turning Breitbart into “the platform for the Alt-Right,” for an interview on the main stage.

And while conference organizers move to condemn racism, CPAC may also want to reflect on its own history with white nationalist activists. While the summit has barred gay and pro-gay conservative organizations in the past, it has had no problem hosting leaders of the Alt-Right.

In past years, CPAC hosted Youth for Western Civilization, a group so far to the right that it defended the Confederacy and South Africa’s apartheid system. In 2011 the conference even offered YWC a panel about how immigration and multiculturalism threaten to destroy not only the GOP but also American society. The Anti-Defamation League reported at the time that the panel was also attended by two “well-known racists, Jared Taylor, who runs the white supremacist journal American Renaissance and William Johnson, the chairman of the American Third Position, a white supremacist political party.”

In 2012, a CPAC panel on multiculturalism included Peter Brimelow, the Alt-Right figure who founded the white nationalist outlet VDARE; John Derbyshire, a VDARE contributor who was fired by the National Review for his racist writings; and white nationalist Bob Vandervoort.
Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, also made an appearance at that panel—which attacked multiculturalism as a “disease”—and praised Brimelow, calling himself a fan of his books. (Brimelow recently addressed an Alt-Right gathering in Washington, D.C., that featured Nazi salutes). Vandervoort, for his part, continued to sponsor CPAC for several years.
For years, the summit also hosted the ultraconservative John Birch Society, which notoriously criticized the civil rights movement.

Not to be overlooked, of course, is CPAC’s decision to host Donald Trump, who conveniently became a major donor to the American Conservative Union in the years leading up to his presidential bid. As Kenneth Vogel of Politico noted, Trump’s relationship with CPAC’s organizers “provided valuable entry into conservative circles as he was just beginning to increase his political profile.”

It was at CPAC conferences where Trump outlined may of the same themes he later deployed in his campaign, particularly immigrant-bashing.

Back in 2011, he told the crowd that “our country will be great again” if they elect him president.
CPAC not only helped transform Trump’s image from a bumbling birther into a credible conservative, but it also gave a platform to figures pushing the kind of xenophobia and racism that helped pave the way for Trump’s successful presidential campaign".

Strange all this champing at the bit to the boot into Milo when all he's done is put things in an unfortunate way in a vid a year back. Nobody seems to want to mention the several US female School teachers done in the past few weeks for shagging their students, or the news that the cops in the UK are 100% certain that form PM Heath was a pedophile. Milo has not actually done anything, has condemned child abuse and outed 3 pedo's in the past, it's a fucking witch hunt. Those behind it don't give a toss about kids.

This whole Milo false kiddy fiddler thing is going the backfire big time for the sanctimonious libtards.

By the end of the day Milo will be seen as a victim, for simply being a well spoken Trump fan.

Rolling out the pedophilian bullshit, is clearly fucking desperate.

Personally, I see Milo as a smug, punk arse biatch who let his humming bird mouth over run his mocking bird ass. Little fugger got distracted by mental images of himself sucking Joe Rogan's cock. Got played by a colonial in an interview and it blew up in his face.

That was foking outstanding. What he says in that video is an extremily articulate version of what a few of us have been saying on this Teler, libtard contaminated forum for some time. Now we can wait for some foking idiot to pop up and accuse me of supporting pedos or some such nonsense , instead of any attempt to counter what he said with an intelligent response.

Face it. Yiannopoulos believes in nothing. He is a troll. The man stirs controversy wherever he goes just to put money in his own pocket. His method to get attention by shocking and offending as many people as possible got the best of him when the old video emerged.

He's a virtuous troll, there we are another meaningless label to stick on somebody whose opinions you don't happen to agree with and of course he stirs controversy there is nothing new or wrong with that. The showmanship is to entertain and he does, I don't see anything wrong with taking the piss out of man hating feminists, exposing Islam as a Gay hating religion or laughing at poor liberals needing their safe spaces in a University. They have been out to get him for some time and of course the easiest way these days is the big P accusation, utter rubbish of course if you care to look at the facts, something that liberals seem allergic to.

Your quote defending the Pedo ^.

“We get hung up on this sort of child abuse stuff,” Yiannopoulos is heard saying in a video, acknowledging that he has a controversial point of view, “to the point where we are heavily policing consensual adults.”
“In the homosexual world, particularly, some of those relationships between younger boys and older men — the sort of ‘coming of age’ relationship — those relationships in which those older men help those young boys discover who they are and give them security and safety and provide them with love and a reliable, sort of rock, where they can’t speak to their parents,” he added.

    What you are defending^.

^^Don't worry Thai94, your man Milo will probably reinvent himself as a porn star since he has crashed and burned in his current career.

That or we will see him soon as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars.
