Maybe what they need is prayers and thoughts? That'll stop shootings. And guns. More guns.

The only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun are prayers and thoughts and guns.

Definitely more guns: guns; prayers; guns; thoughts; guns.

    In that order.

Prayers are ok...just keep it out of the schools. It's really about guns...more guns..and the 2nd amendment though.

In other news, 100 people gathered in Alabama to hold a candle light vigil for a Taco Bell that burned down.

No worries, I couldn't expect you to understand what education means.

It's quite obvious that for you and many like you, what passes for education is little more than nany-state indoctrination.

Most schools and universities for the past 40-50 have been reduced to government sponsored indoctrination camps.

It's no wonder people are flipping out and raging with firearms or whatever is handy. The UK they have fewer firearms so they are busy cutting each other up or running people down with vehicles.

Yeah, it's pretty much a rote response at this point then move on to the next one.

I was thinking about that yesterday. Saw a buried article that the NRA were having their latest exhibition thing just down the road from where the Vegas shooting was. It also noted that the manufacturer of the bump-stock that was used in that shooting wouldn't be attending, but noted that immediately following the incident they had received so many orders that they had to temporarily suspend taking them - which correlates to research that shows following mass shootings gun sales increase and gun control legislation decreases.

Because America. Because guns. Because fucking nuts.

Unfortunately the inescapable fact is in 2017 the total number of homicides was 723 in England and Wales. The USA has already exceeded that number in deaths by gun alone as of the first 23 days of 2018. There has been 1088 homicides with 744 deaths by gun alone. The police in 2017 killed more than 900 people in the USA. By comparison the police in England and Wales in 2017 killed 5 people, 4 of which were terrorist related. Of course I realise there is no relationship to gun ownership and gun deaths and all these statistics from around the world do not prove anything.
In fact the NRA the most unbiased gun lobby group in America and possibly the world, has stated categorically that all these deaths in no way related to the 357 million odd guns in the USA and furthermore most of these deaths could have been prevented if people were allowed to carry ICBMs. The only way to stop bad people with an ICBM is by good people with an ICBM.

I think this writer is on to something:

And that is my last pathology: it is one of the soul, not one of the limbs, like the others above. Americans appear to be quite happy simply watching one another die, in all the ways above. They just don’t appear to be too disturbed, moved, or even affected by the four pathologies above: their kids killing each other, their social bonds collapsing, being powerless to live with dignity,or having to numb the pain of it all away.

If these pathologies happened in any other rich country — even in most poor ones — people would be aghast, shocked, and stunned, and certainly moved to make them not happen. But in America, they are, well, not even resigned. They are indifferent, mostly.
