No, I'm implying that you cut 'n pasting links from Hungary, Germany or wherever doesn't prove that "crazies anywhere in the world can easily obtain weapons, including assault rifles, at their whim" or that gun laws don't work.

In fact the point that the dudes in Hungary were caught with illegal weapons and such kinda argues against it.

Confiscation is impossible. I have said it before and will say it again how do you confiscate weapons when you do not know who even owns them? Most of the guns in the US are not registered. You can not confiscate what you can not find.

Not to mention it would cause major unrest at the least and possibly a civil war at worst.

this is quite simply poor and shoddy work by you.
that seems to be your answer to anyone whose opinion differs from yours.

You know full well gun use in the UK is restricted, in the main, to organised crime and drug syndicates who can pay big money for a weapon not remotely available to the average British lunatic .
but they ARE available to the average british lunatic, maybe not the budleigh salterton lunatic that you might be more familiar with, but any council estate lunatic would have no trouble getting a weapon. it would take him about ten minutes.

thankfully the average british lunatic is nothing like the average american lunatic , and even if in the future they did have strict gun control in the usa weapons would still be just as available to the average american lunatic as they are now and the murder rate due to guns would not be altered one little bit.

from a 5 second look up on google.

£5 a bullet, £100 a gun, £200 a grenade: Death for sale on British streets where policewomen gunned down.

Grenades have become the latest “must have” weapons being sold by underworld arms dealers at knockdown prices.

And a special Mirror investigation has found that the terrifying trade is booming.

Following the killing of two unarmed policewomen in a gun and grenade attack on Tuesday, we uncovered the shocking array of firepower available on the streets today.

The death-dealing “shopping list” includes guns for hire for as little as £100 and bullets priced at anything from £5 to £15.

Sources say the evil trade is run “just like any other business” with “gun librarians” setting prices for those looking to rent or buy.

The black market dealings are said to be worth hundreds of thousands of pounds each year. And we can reveal that high-level criminals are now turning to grenades to beef up their armoury. The most commonly used are the Swiss-manufactured British Army-issue L109 and the Yugoslavian-made M75.

In the three years to March 2010, there were 14 grenade attacks in the UK – including seven in the North West in just 10 months.

Large numbers are thought to have gone missing when the Soviet Union and former Yugoslavia split up into smaller states.

Others are believed to have been stolen from British Army bases.

Sources say it is still mainly “the top boys” who manage to get their hands on grenades, with young street gangs more likely to make their own terrorist-style devices.

    etc etc etc etc ........

You have evidently contracted some disorder or other, Tax. Were you bitten recently, perchance?

UK lunatics among the non-criminal classes, i.e normal folk who have become deranged or driven beyond reason because of some innate frailty or provocation beyond the bearable, simply cannot get access to modern military style weaponry or indeed any handgun worth the description. Even criminals often cannot obtain such weapons and are reliant upon "gunsmiths" who convert replicas. And so what if they can? Criminals want money and their freedom to spend it and when violence is perpetrated it is invariably against fellow criminals or the police. They don't go crazy and decide to slaughter the entire bus queue outside WH Smiths because they have a small penis and a fascination for Goth art.

If it were not for the constitutional right of every American to bear arms and blow away his neighbour in a fit of pique, gun control would have been imposed years ago and these mad killing sprees perpetrated by nutters simply would and could not occur.

That is the point Tax. Please try to grasp it.

The only equivalent gun crime spree we have is that which is perpetrated by a shotgun licence holder who has lost his marbles and is a rarity, not a fucking monthly event as it is in the US with high death tolls precipitated by the fact the weapon available is a fucking military grade rifle.

Guns are not freely available to anyone in the UK, "if they want them", that's just plain daft. Where do they get them from? Fucking Amazon or GunsR'Us, Liverpool 5?

PH, I see you are still infatuated with my being a gun toten retired pharmacist Merikan. You really need some new material since your repetoir seems to be growing very tired and boring. By the way, thank you for all your flattering comments that accompany your reds you have graciously sent me. It continues to prove to me what a peabrained imbecile you are.

Try contributing something more than snippits of what others say followed by a moronic comment or two. Maybe that is all you know and have no real substance to your idiotic whimperings.

    Oh that's just horseshit.

The laws forbidding the illegal ownership of guns are *exactly* what makes them unavailable to the average citizen.

And it's the reason most arguments in the UK aren't settled with a firearm, and why the biggest causes of suicide in the UK are hanging/suffocation and drug overdoses.

And it's probably the reason suicides in the US per capita are twice those of the UK.

Sorry you are having a meltdown Panama. Please seek help to prevent it.

Never have and never will go crying to the mods. Just part of your dillusional reaction to some of your silly posts being deleted in the World News section, I suppose. Please up your meds.

See, Rick . . . just taking a statement and turning it around simply shows you are devoid of a sense of humour or wit. I'm sure school was a nightmare for you, but the responses you used then weren't effective, nor are they now.

Try again . . . maybe you can even get censored again . . .

No PH, pharmacy school was quite easy and enjoyable for me, but I guess you would find this odd since you struggle with anything other than schoolboy banter. I am amused by your lack of intelligence and find your trying to belittle my profession a sign of your lack of true morality as well. Anyone having to resort to such tactics is very small in so many ways.

Please try harder Panama, you are falling behind.

There's a lot to be said about the TYPE of weapons people can get their hands on though isn't there.
Your desperate crim in the UK may be able to get his hands on a weapon of some sort, but getting his hands on a military grade assault weapon is a different story.
In the U.S. any old nutjob can get hold of an armoury just by popping down the local gunshop or gunshow and forking over some cash, no questions asked.

There does seem to be a pecking order here since so many are from the UK. Why dont we discuss why any country would have a queen in todays world when she is basically ineffective and spending a fair amount of the tax payers money?

True, I am not a citizen of the UK and may not possess the knowledge to understand monarchy, but then again how many out there truely understand gun ownership in the US?
The UK and Australia doesn't have gun massacres' every month. There is not a civilised country on earth that has as many mass killings as America. There is not a civilised country on earth that is as obsessed by gun ownership as America.

To allow virtually any American adult without a felony conviction to walk the streets, prowl Walmart, or go grocery shopping while carrying a loaded, concealed handgun - which almost all will barely know how to use - is the height of idiocy.

I can't think of any other country in the world - or at least in what we claim to be the first/civilized world - that allows Bubba the Braindead the right to stick a .44 Magnum in his pants when he goes down to the local diner for his morning coffee.

It's simply a retarded set of laws.
I have to agree with you, Davis. It's impossible to defend the law or the inability for Congress to do anything about it.

That would be an un-welcome turn-about for some of the idiots on this board, and a welcome bit of fairness to spread the crap around where it belongs.
Unfortunately, all it would do is spread crap around, and there's already pleanty of that on these boards. Best to let the wankers wank. They'll stop when they want something from us (or get tired of Putin's cold embrace).
