Planned Parenthood: Three die in shooting at Colorado clinic


A shooting at a family planning clinic in Colorado Springs has left two civilians and a police officer dead, with the suspected gunman under arrest.

Nine other people were injured during the standoff at the Planned Parenthood clinic, which lasted five hours before the suspect surrendered.

A number of people were trapped inside the building as shots were exchanged.

The motive remains unclear. The Planned Parenthood group has drawn anti-abortion protests in the past.

Colorado Springs Police Department identified the suspect as Robert Lewis Dear, from North Carolina. No other details were given.

A Mississippi waitress was shot and killed by a customer after she asked him not to smoke.

Biloxi police charged 45-year-old Johnny Max Mount with first-degree murder. They said he shot Ms Brightwell early on Friday after she asked him not to smoke.

Fire Chief Joe Boney told The Sun Herald that Mount is a former firefighter who was badly injured in a 2002 traffic accident.

Customer Richard Bonin said Ms Brightwell served him and two friends just before she was shot.

Though she was tired, he said, she asked if they had a good Thanksgiving.

. . . which wouldn't have worked in this case as she was asking the guy not to smoke. I'd suggest immediate shooting of customers upon entry into the restaurant to be on the safe side

Police in San Bernardino, California are responding to reports of an active shooter in an office building. There are 20 victims, according to the fire department. The location is around the corner from a Planned Parenthood.

14 PEOPLE KILLED IN SHOOTING AT INLAND REGIONAL CENTER IN SAN BERNARDINO

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- Police said up to 14 people were killed when one or more gunmen opened fire at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino Wednesday. At least one suspect was killed in a dramatic shootout.

A second suspect's body was pulled out of a bullet-riddled SUV. Police have not yet confirmed that the suspects were related to the shooting at the Inland Regional Center, but they had earlier said that the gunmen may have fled in a dark SUV.

A massive police presence was seen in the area, and surrounding streets have been shut down due to the gun battle.
