Russian air strike hits busy market in Idlib province

At least 40 people were killed and scores wounded on Sunday in a suspected Russian air strike on a crowded marketplace in Idlib province, activists said. The early morning attack occurred in the town of Ariha, 15km south of Idlib city. Local news channel Ariha al-Youm reported cluster bombs were used in the raid by a Russian fighter jet.

The pro-opposition Orient TV also reported an initial death toll of 40.
However, Rami Abdulrahman, director of the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, put the death toll much higher, saying at least 60 people were killed and wounded in the attack.

Officials at the Russian defence ministry could not immediately be reached for comment.

The Russian air force has conducted air strikes in support of President Bashar al-Assad since September 30.

Ariha is located in Idlib province, which is controlled by rebel groups including the al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front.

The province is not a stronghold of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group that controls wide areas of eastern Syria.

The Syrian military withdrew from Ariha in May as an alliance of rebel groups - including Nusra Front - advanced in Idlib in an offensive that resulted in the entire province falling into rebel hands.

Terrorists and their squeezes, aren't they the targets which every coalition is trying to eradicate? Unless of course they are "moderate" terrorists and their squeezes, then it's , "did they have their black capes on and AK47's on their shoulders" if so legitimate, heaven forbid they left them in their white Toyota trucks.

Flagellates to release the woe for the terrorists.

    How tough is Putin?

So tough that he has disallowed any Turkish football players to be recruited into any Russian team the next transfer window.

    Wow. Tough.

Makes Obama look downright masculine (thankfully)

The Russians will liven things up in Syria. A traditional rustic approach to bombing the enemy. Refreshingly random after these tediously accurate American gorgon-stare remote-controlled drone missiles.

Any type of honest analysis quickly finds the accuracy of the drones and/or any other bombs as very much less than the propaganda agency's lists.

I think they are generally accurate, but the intel that's directing them isn't always up to scratch.

An act strictly for Russian public consumption.
I wonder of Putin directed the seaman to take his shirt off too.

B]Turkey angered by rocket-brandishing on Russian naval ship passing Istanbul [/B]

REUTERS/Murad Sezer Turkey accused Russia of a "provocation" on Sunday after a serviceman on the deck of a Russian naval ship allegedly held a rocket launcher on his shoulder while the vessel passed through Istanbul.

Relations have deteriorated sharply since Turkey last week became the first NATO member in more than half a century to down a Russian plane, which it said had violated its airspace while flying sorties over Syria. The pilot was killed.

The NTV news channel broadcast photographs that it said showed a serviceman brandishing a rocket launcher on the deck of the landing ship Caesar Kunikov as it passed on Saturday through the Bosphorus Strait, which bisects the city of Istanbul. It said the ship was believed to be en route to Syria.

"For a Russian soldier to display a rocket launcher or something similar while passing on a Russian warship is a provocation," Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told reporters, according to the Hurriyet news site. "If we perceive a threatening situation, we will give the necessary response."

The Bosphorus offers the only passage to the world's oceans for the Russian Black Sea fleet. A World War One-era treaty obliges Turkey to allow all ships to pass during peacetime.

Turkey had considered Russia a strategic partner as its main energy supplier, despite deep differences over Syria. But since Turkey shot the plane down, Moscow has introduced economic sanctions including a ban on Turkish foods and other products worth as much as $1 billion.

NTV said three NATO frigates with Canadian, Spanish and Portuguese flags had been moored in Istanbul as the Caesar Kunikov passed through. (Reporting by Ayla Jean Yackley; Editing by Kevin Liffey)

    Turkey is completely idiotic,

the reason nobody is saying anything about their rogue attitude and silly acts is because they are a "utitity" in NATO and in the fight against illegal immigration

One wonders what Turkey considers all those guns and missiles on all naval warships which pass through the strait are for.

Wondering if they might appear so tough if they didn't have the false guise of security as a NATO member...[they've a green light]

Remembering the Turkey government's not pretty past/present with their neighbors of "lesser" ethnic persuasions, less the memory of the Ottoman period.

The French and the Italians appear to be questioning the illegal sanctions imposed on Russia. Look out for more "ISIS terrorism" in those countries.

    https://www.rt.com/news/325537-frenc...ctions-russia/

"A French lawmaker has presented a draft resolution to the country’s parliament, which is calling for the lifting of the anti-Russian sanctions. The document denounces the sanctions as ‘ineffective’ and questions their legality.

"These sanctions, which will only push the Russians to reorient their trade, are detrimental to sustainable economic relations between France and Russia. If the sanctions last any longer, French companies will end up suffering more than Russia," the document reads.

The resolution also questions the legality of the sanctions targeting individuals claiming that they are incompatible with Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights that envisages the right for fair trial for violation of civil law.

"Such sanctions raise a series of questions, especially regarding the legality of such measures. Indeed, who can claim the right to create a list of citizens and applying personal sanctions against them without questioning, without having an opportunity to defend themselves and even have a lawyer," the draft bill says.

Many Italian politicians and businessmen see anti-Russian sanctions as counterproductive, according to Fabio Massimo Castaldo, a member of the European Parliament from the Italian Five Star Movement party. Extension of sanctions is useless … it has no sense,” he told RT, adding that Europe “needs cooperation with Russia” and “a real solution for Syria” is not possible without Russian diplomacy."

Many here will deride the use of law, their preferred option is listening and nodding along with MSM like stupid asses.

Brute force is their main weapon.

Maybe a crop of gonads is ripening in Europe.
