Well, maybe it would have been better or more honest if he said:"Who the hell wants Kiev". Putin seems to me like one of those big U.S. financial investors. Cutting up a company taking out the pieces of filet and leaving the rest to rott.
Ohh shit, was that maybe the plan of the U.S. but in a more sophisticated manner.

The Western sanctioneers, EU, US, Australia should look at who is being affected, the most, by their sanctions. Should the sanctions affect all these groupings equally or as it is now the EU unproportionately?

When more oil and gas pipelines are built between Russia and China that's Western Europe's energy supply fuked, you'll have Obama to thank for that.

In the big picture Russia is economically small enough that economic exclusion is going to hurt them more than it hurts us.

    Sanctions are better than war.

    War is so uncivilised.

absolutely, a complete failure, and I dare say, worse than GW Bush legacy

incidentally, Kerry and Obama have been very quiet over the last month, maybe stunned by their own incompetence in creating a new war they can't win.

    Obama is a complete disgrace,

Spirit of the blitz old chap.

Europe survived Hitler. I am sure they will survive that psychotic little dictator trying to throw his modest weight around.

Just a shame for the folk on the front line.

How many dead now? 3000 not counting MH17.

Butters you are an utter muppet.

You think the deaths of 3000 people is a joke and this psychotic dictator's gay muscle-flexing antics are just for the purposes of putting responsible leaders in a difficult position to provide you with entertainment?

A very principle reasoning as to why Europe [or the Western allies] and the U.S. are not really seeing eye-to-eye regarding extreme Ukraine/Russia policy.

Looper you seem to forget we wouldn't be in this situation now if the EU and US hadn't supported and helped in the overthrow of the democratically elected pro Russian president of the Ukraine. And as usual when the US and EU get involved in other countries affairs to try and suit their own agendas and not those of the locals everything turns into one big clusterfuck. Look at Libya now, Ukraine is a Utopia compared to what's happening there.

Putin is in breach of the Budapest Memorandum 1994 and has violated Ukrainian sovereignty.

Had Ukraine retained its nuclear arsenal Russia would not be so cavalier as has been demonstrated.

The only right thing to do is for the other two signatories, UK and USA, to demand the immediate withdrawal of all Russian forces or they will be destroyed. We have the means to achieve that. Poland should now be garrisoned with a joint task force immediately, the American Seventh Fleet should be stationed in the Black Sea and Turkey should embargo all Russian registered shipping and shipping bound for and from Russian ports through the Bosphorus.

Putin is a short person with a small penis. He is also stupid and his politburo will not tolerate this nonsense. Time to get down and dirty.

Obama has to get tough or we'll be sucking Russian cock for the next 60 years.

Who gives a flying fuk. It's all in the game. Putin can't handle the game and has to start a war like a crying little baby having a tantrum - so he should be summarily fokked off pronto.

You obviously give some sort of flying fuk as otherwise wouldn't have started the thread and keep contributing to it. From where I'm sitting Putin seems to be handling the game rather well, he's already gained the Crimea with minimal effort and will probably end up with all of Eastern Ukraine too, I'm not sure that's quite how the US and EU intended the game would play out when they helped overthrow the democratically elected president of the Ukraine.

You think land acquisition from neighbours by invasion and annexation is 'how to handle yourself' as a G8 leader on the world stage. What century is this again? 19th? early 20th? Oh no its the 21st cenbtury!

One rule for psycho-Putin, another for responsible western leaders it seems.

It's simple- "we" fucked up. (or those who purport to speak for this 'we'). aka-

    Obama’s Catastrophic Defeat in Ukraine
    The 4th Media » Obama

So lets all go b'waaa, and blame the Winner. Of course, your beloved media was never lying to you when they told you about how the 'seperatist rebels' were surrounded and beaten, about how Russia or the seperatists (get used to it- the Donbass Peoples Republic) were the villains behind the downing of the MAS flight, and how Russia had invaded Crimea and eastern Ukraine. Because we would never lie to ouselves now, would we boys?

The following article, from a distinguished scholar, actually accounts for the hardware the Donetsk Peoples Republic have captured from the Ukrainian neo-nazi rabble. They don't even need direct Russian military assistance, although I daresay it is available-

oh, one last thing- i told you so, all along. sickening, isn't it?
now go and play in someone else's backyard, kiddies.

All Russian forces? Meanwhile Putin sits on his hands and watches, sure that's going to happen.

I hope NATO has clear evidence of where the bombs and missiles will land and whose armies they are bombing and arn't relying on their "satellite images" from global earth.

Anyway, I think western Ukraine (ie, Ukraine) will be offered entrance to the EU. What a glorious victory.

Kind of a consolation prize. You've been sold a dummy, Europe. Again. Great to have such loyal Allies, innit?
