It might also be irrelevant. It was a fucking war zone.

In that respect Syria has been the clear winner for many years, although Vlad may be able to lay claim to a few of them.

Putin Should Thank US for Sanctions: Russia and Iran Ink $2.5 Billion Deal

US sanctions have opened the door to closer economic cooperation between Tehran and Moscow

    Global Research, August 03, 2017

Russia and Iran signed a $2.5 billion deal on Monday to start up a much-needed rail wagon production operation. The agreement was forged between the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO) and Transmashholding, who is Russia’s largest rail equipment supplier. The two sides will set up a new joint venture, which will be 80% owned — although completely funded — by the Russian partner.

Iran is currently in the midst of what could be called an infrastructure building bonanza. Emerging from decades of sanctions which left much of the country’s transportation infrastructure descending into proverbial ruins, Iran has embarked upon a near complete rebuild of its highway and rail networks. The country is expected to add on 15,000 kilometers of new rail lines in the next five years alone — a rapid expansion which is going to require 8,000-10,000 new wagons each year.

U.S. ALLY IRAQ TURNS TO RUSSIA FOR MILITARY SUPPORT, OIL DEALS AND NATION BUILDING

Iraq's vice president has reached out to Russia during a high-profile visit, saying he seeks closer ties with Moscow after 14 consecutive years of U.S. military intervention in his country.

As Russia asserts its own influence in neighboring Syria, Maliki reportedly seeks to play Moscow's economic, political and military power against Washington's in Iraq.

"Historically, Russia has close relations with Iraq. That is why we would like to see Russia’s visible presence in our country, both in terms of politics and defense," Maliki said following a meeting with Russian upper house of parliament speaker Valentina Matviyenko, according to the state-run Tass Russian news agency. "It would create [the] balance the region, its nations and countries need.

"Iraq wants to strengthen strategic cooperation in such areas as electricity generation, oil sector, research cooperation, university training, economy and trade, as well as political and military spheres," he added.

Iraq's biggest export is oil (84%) and their biggest customers are China (22,6%) and India (21.1%) and now they see Russia building new pipelines to both of those countries they may be seeing their biggest customers going over to Russia for their oil so want to get in good with Russia to somehow limit any damage to their economy, such as it is.

Oh Yea the US only buys 7.8% so is in no position to take up any slack.

You must be demented, did you not see how many palaces Saddam had?

The US have poured hundreds of billions into Iraq and have fuck all to show for it.

They can save themselves a fortune by pulling out.

The Shi'a were going to take over sooner or later anyway, probably the Arab Spring would have done it.

Germany's FDP urges new approach to Russia's annexation of Crimea

BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany may have to accept Russia's 2014 annexation of the Crimea region of Ukraine as a "permanent provisional arrangement," the head of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) told a newspaper chain in comments published on Saturday.

FDP chief Christian Lindner underscored the importance of good ties with Moscow for Germany and the European Union, and said it might be necessary to "encapsulate" the Crimea issue in order to offer Russian President Vladimir Putin face-saving options to change his policies.

Some of our dear leaders live in better lodgings than others.

Available anytime to the current President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, are 20 palaces, villas and residences.

    In comparison:

The President of The United States has two residences.

The Head of The German Government has two.

The Italian Prime Minister has three.

The Canadian Prime Minister has two.

Note that nine new palaces appeared during Putin’s presidency. Thus the obscenely large number of residences under Putin, have almost doubled.

This recent speech by Putin to the Russian parliament shows how dangerous he really is, imagine if all countries leaders thought like that.

Vladimir Putin's speech - SHORTEST SPEECH EVER. As the Russian president, addressed the Duma, (Russian Parliament), and gave a speech about the tensions with minorities in Russia:

"In Russia, live like Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, it should speak Russian, and should respect the Russian laws. If they prefer Sharia Law, and live the life of Muslim’s, then we now clearly advise them to go and live in those places where that's the state law.

"Russia does not need Muslim minorities. Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell 'discrimination'. We will not tolerate disrespect of our Russian culture.

We had better learn from the suicides of so-called democracies - America, England, Holland, and France, if we are to survive as a nation. The Muslims are taking over those countries and they will not take over Russia. The Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of culture or the primitive ways of Sharia Law and Muslims.

"When this honorable legislative body thinks of creating new laws, it should have in mind the Russian national interest first, observing that the Muslims minorities Are Not Russians.”

The politicians in the Duma gave Putin a five minute standing ovation.

Whats Putin's palaces got to do with the US turning Iraq into a shithole Harry.

The US went into Iraq on a lie and Bush now admits it was a mistake. If I make a mistake on the road and kill someone I can expect to be held accountable under the law.
When US makes a mistake that kills how many? and leads to the rise of ISIS and the threat that it is to the world today they should pay for that mistake and not just in billions of dollars.

Iraq is looking to Russia for trade for they sure aren't getting it from the US who only account for 7.8% of Iraqi overseas trade.

Iraq was a shithole before the US arrived - if you were Shi'a.

By the way, lets make it clear that I was against Bush going in from the start.

But it is what it is, and there is no point in America being there.

As for Afghanistan, that has always been a titanic waste of money. The talitubbies will be back in power before the last departing US helicopter's engine has cooled down.

This is what he really said:
Islam is inseparable part of Russia’s society and culture - Putin
    Published time: 30 Aug, 2012 10:46

President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russian Hajj Mission on its 10th anniversary, and said that Islam has become integral to Russia’s religious, cultural and social fabric.
“Traditions of Islam are based on eternal values of kindness, mercifulness and justice. Millions of people in our country practice this ancient religion,” Putin wrote in a telegram published on the Kremlin’s website.

The letter was forwarded to the participants of the anniversary meeting, which took place in Grozny, the capital of the Republic of Chechnya, on Thursday.

Putin also saluted the Muslim community for being active participants in the country’s public life, developing broad charity initiatives and strengthening family values. The wider Muslim community is opposed to all forms of religious intolerance and extremism, the Russian President wrote.

“I want to stress that the state’s estimation of fruitful activities of Muslim organizations is very high and the state guarantees its citizens the opportunity to follow the norms of their religion including the pilgrimage to the holy places of Islam,” he said, adding that the Hajj Mission has made numerous strides in resolving issues related to Russian believers’ pilgrimages to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
