Cheat Sheet - The Daily Beast

The most popular general among Republicans since Douglas MacArthur has nice things to say about the next likely Democratic presidential nominee. David Petraeus said Hillary Clinton would make a "tremendous president" in a new book simply entitled HRC. “Like a lot of great leaders, her most impressive qualities were most visible during tough times,” Petraeus said. “In the wake of the Benghazi attacks, for example, she was extraordinarily resolute, determined, and controlled.” At the time, Petraeus was head of the Central Intelligence Agency. After he quit over marital infidelity, Clinton sent him a note: "I have a little experience."

How will the right wing fever swamp spin this one? Oh, I know. Pivot to Vince Foster and blah blah blah.

We're sure Vince Foster will rise from the grave a few more times before this harridan is silenced.

See where HRC's 'closest' friend wrote a little expose on just what kind of person she is?

"The papers of Diane Blair, a political science professor Hillary Clinton described as her 'closest friend' before Blair’s death in 2000, record years of candid conversations with the Clintons on issues ranging from single-payer health care to Monica Lewinsky."

    Quite revealing actually...

btw, good to see you're posting again, Bert. Hope you hips are doing OK.

I am in constant pain due to complications from surgery. Unfortunately, posting on Teakdoor only makes it worse.

Something to be said re malpractice suits then after all. Hard to do here I suspect.

Re posting on TD makes the pain worse - 'your' side vastly outnumbers the conservative/libertarian side so take comfort in that!

This national poll is funny. They even polled Palin (report page #9 in the link) and she scored 35% to Clinton’s 62%. 27 point difference.

Cruz is still hovering towards the bottom of the pack, but picking up. If you look at the question “If the 2016 Republican nomination were held today who would you vote for?” (report page #15),………….Cruz scores 5%.

    Cruz 5%

Even the Rethugs hate ‘im. Well, maybe not the far right teabagger loons.

And to add to the Petraeus book/remarks,.......because of the recent report from the Republican House Armed Services Committee I don’t think the republicans will be screaming Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi when they hear Mrs. Clinton’s name any longer. Well, except for the crazy far right loons, who've got nothing.

Another poll and Cruz is holding that notable spot of the village idiot.

Ohio voters say 55 - 39 percent that Clinton would make a good president. No Republican listed gets a positive score on this question, as even Gov. Kasich gets a negative 34 - 47 percent. Christie gets a big negative 31 - 48 percent, compared to a positive 44 - 32 percent November 27.

"The George Washington Bridge is not in Ohio, but voters there seem very aware of its traffic problems - and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's traffic problems," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "When Quinnipiac University asked Ohioans in November about Gov. Christie vs. Secretary Hillary Clinton in a 2016 White House race, the two were in a dead heat and voters thought he would make a good president. Today, she enjoys a comfortable double-digit lead and voters say Christie would not be a good president."

What will also be entertaining is the Republican debates leading up to the convention, the questions the moderator might ask and each of the rethugs on stage trying to out crazy/right one another.

Example question/s the moderator/s might ask and response.

    Raise your hand if,....

    a) You will restrict a woman’s right to choose. (All on stage raise their hands)
    b) You believe not every American should be required to have health insurance. (All on stage raise their hands)
    c) You believe every man, woman and child should be allowed to own/carry a concealed weapon without a background check. (All on stage raise their hands)
    d) You believe the good book trumps science and evolution should be taught in schools. (All on stage raise their hands)
    e) You believe our immigration policy is fine and doesn’t need a fix. (All on stage raise their hands)
    f) You believe wealthy Americans should be allowed to vote more than once. (All on stage raise their hands)
    g) You believe we should reduce tax on the wealthiest Americans. (All on stage raise their hands)
    h) You believe not all Americans deserve a higher education. (All on stage raise their hands)
    i) You believe businesses should be allowed to self-regulate and we should cut all departments related to regulations (MSHA, OSHA, EPA, etc.). (All on stage raise their hands)
    j) You believe the more carbon dioxide added to our atmosphere the better. (All on stage raise their hands)
    k) You believe we should restrict voting rights. (All on stage raise their hands)
    l) You believe the US should eliminate the 13th Amendment. (All on stage raise their hands)
    m) You believe not every American should be treated equally. (All on stage raise their hands)

Holy fuck,.. Cruz will soon see some light from that deep hole he has been sitting in. Good for him. He’ll make another great Republican contender.

From this Virginia poll, it doesn’t seem many people like Cruz.

    why's that?

Something to brighten up the Republicans/Teabaggers day

Look at Jeb Bush’s numbers. I wonder if a lot of Floridians participated in the poll.

    And from FOX News

    Cruz

Edit: Forgot this poll (Roanoke/Rutgers-Eagleton/Siena College Study)

Who is the one eligible person that you would most like to see as the next President of the United States?

1% of New York’s Registered Voters want to see Ted Cruz as the next president
1% of Virginia’s Registered Voters want to see Ted Cruz as the next president
1% of New Jersey’s Registered Voters want to see Ted Cruz as the next president

Cruz is holding steady at 1%

Couple polls out (PPP and Quinnipiac) this past week and hope the information will leave a comforting feeling to the Republicans/Teabaggers here at TD for the wonderful weekend ahead.

Look at Cruz at the bottom of each poll.

I don't think any Republican would stand against hillary - too scared of getting "suicided" if they did.

American Jewish Congress lauds Hillary Clinton

NEW YORK (AP) — Former U.S. first lady and secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke about the country's longstanding friendship with Israel and the importance of keeping nuclear weapons out of Iran as she accepted a lifetime achievement award from the American Jewish Congress on Wednesday.

Clinton, widely seen as a potential 2016 presidential contender, spoke at the group's gala in Manhattan, introduced by actress Julianna Margulies.

She said the coming months would be "crucial" for the region, both in the attempts to negotiate a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians and in efforts to make sure Iran doesn't acquire nuclear weapons. She said that both goals were vital to the United States' interests.

Clinton, 66, went over her own history, talking about some of the steps she had taken in the peace process while serving as secretary of state for President Barack Obama and steps to increase international pressure on Iran.

"I pursued the peace negotiations in large measure because I think the status quo is unsustainable, and I want to do everything I can ... to keep testing, to keep pushing," she said.

The American Jewish Congress is an association of Jewish Americans seeking to defend Jewish interests through public policy advocacy, using diplomacy, legislation and the court system, according to its website.

The Stephen S. Wise Award for Lifetime Achievement also has been given to President Harry Truman and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren among others.

    http://news.yahoo.com/american-jewis...024616697.html

Not sure what this tells us- the AJC is not a right wing 'zionist' lobby group like AIPAC, which really just wants to sabotage the Peace process in any way possible- it is much more representative than that. I take it to mean Hillary is seem as a slam dunk to be next Potus- the only serious opposition at this stage seems to be Bernie Sanders, but you can safely bet the slush money that has taken over the US political sphere will be united in their opposition to a President Bernie (Socialist!). The GOP is just a picture of disarray, absolutely no serious candidacy appears likely from their side.

Indeed - all these charts are worthless.

Ultimately what will happen in the not too distant future, assuming that the new scandals rocking her errant lothario no good husband does not derail her before she gets going, is that a tiny tiny minority of people will select her as a presidential candidate, the media will say she is the next president and shoot down anyone else, the republicans will put forward an unelectable candidate, and low and behold, 15% of the population will trot to the booths and tick a box with her name in it.

    Democracy - USA style!

    No.

The Republicans will put forward Rubio and try and pretend they care about the Latinos, who already know he's just a shill.

If Hillary can be persuaded, she'll run, Fox news and the teabaggers will stick their fingers in their ears and squeal "Benghazi! Obamacare! Socialist!" at the top of their voices, no-one will listen and they'll all vote Hillary in.

I would hope she would not, what with the court case looming about her husbands relationship with a certain person. However, it's in the script, and the brain washing has already begun so she will enter and be voted in.

Congrats - you will love her. She will continue kicking the debt can along the road, provoke more uprisings in democratic states, kill more kids with drones, invade a couple of countries and if you are really lucky, start world war 3. Same as if by some miracle a Gop got elected instead. Same as if obama changed the rules and stayed on.

What is this "provoke more uprisings in democratic states" shit?

I can't say as it will make much difference to me at all.

However, for those it will affect, I think it's simply a matter of people realising that for all its protestations to the contrary, the GOP is simply the party of greed.

^ What a laugh! Tell us Gilbert, when is the last time a Democratic president started a war?

You keep trying to paint Obama as some kind of war monger. He didn't start the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but he's ended the first and winding down the second.

You despise the Obama for his imagined war mongering but Putin gives you a stiffy. Go figure...
