I just received my Teknic Violator jacket- I have to say it's way better quality than I expected- the stitching is perfect and the seams are all nice and straight- it has full perforation and excellent armor, including a CE-rated Knox back protector.

Like always I ordered a Euro 54/US 44, and as usual it's tight on my arms and shoulders and a bit loose in the belly (though there are adjusters on the sides that take up the slack)- it's styled very aggressively- the arms are pre-curved and it has a large hump on the back- it has no real practical use off of a motorcycle- it came with a removeable thermal liner but I doubt I'll ever use it.

For $269 shipped to LOS (and 2500 baht in import fees) it was a great deal- my Dainese jacket is nicer, but at more than twice the price it sure isn't twice the jacket.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

^^nice jacket i wish i had the body shape for it. It would work well on a track day if a one piece is not available.

Just sold my X11 (and will probably give my nephew my supermoto) and will be buying a new bike later this month- I've got a short list of bikes that I'm interested in, and I hope to be able to answer that question soon- I've been so busy with work the last few months that all I could do was order gear from in front of the computer screen.

Yeah, but I knew it was pretty big (about twice the size of the one on my other jacket)- if you landed on your back it would keep your helmet from forcing your head forward and would help keep your neck aligned (the aerodynamic advantages don't mean much to me, but I can see the safety benefits)- I'd would only wear it in a bike, so I don't care if I look like Quasimodo with it on.

Again, I have to say I'm very impressed with the quality of Teknic- they are probably coming out with a new model soon as this jacket used to be $550 less than a year ago.

No, as far as I know none of us are robot-like tiny Australians blessed with God-like ability to race motorcycles and no real love for the sport.

Mick Doohan- there's an Aussie worthy of his talent.

I was so impressed with the Teknic Violator jacket that I ordered a pair of their Chicane leather pants (they also make a version with more peroration- the Mercury pants- but I read that they are actually perfed in impact areas so I didn't seriously consider them- the Chicane pants are supposed to flow air very well, though)- $225 shipped to LOS (I got the 2013 revised version with stretch panels or more comfort and air-flow- the older version without them is available on a close-out for $200 or less at a few places, but they look like they would run pretty hot)- I'll review them when they arrive in a couple of weeks (with arrival date I got seems like they are coming to LOS via carrier pigeon- 2-3 weeks from the order date).

That's IT for gear for me for a while- it looks like some business I've been working on for a while will be concluding next week and I can finally put in some time selecting a new bike (for which I'll start another thread soon).

OK, I might order another pair of gloves before then...

I was originally considering the new Dainese Delta Pro pants (which I mentioned earlier in this thread), but they're $530, and I don't believe they're that much better than the Teknic pants- if the difference was $100-$150 I might have still bought them, but $300 more seemed ridiculous (I now will have a track-approved two-piece suit for less than $600 total- I don't plan to ride the track much if at all, but I want to meet the safety standard), and considering how close in quality their jackets are I am betting their pants are the same.

That's an excellent deal if it fits- 52/42 means if you're ~5'11 with a 36" waist it's in your ballpark- I'm 6'2" with a 32" waist, which means to get an off-the-rack suit from Alpinestars that will work for my height, the waist will be 36"-38", which is way too roomy in the belly (it's actually worse with American brands).

My best option (outside of a custom one-piece suit) is to go for separate jacket and pants (with a 360* connection zipper to make it track-legal)- nothing else really works for me, unfortunately- it's why I didn't buy the same suit you bought- I could have picked it up in the States and saved on shipping and import duty, but it just wasn't gonna fit me right.

The A* GP Tech Air jacket runs $900 and has a different style- I don't know which jacket that is (at that price it's probably a knock-off or an old model on close-out- if it's real it's an excellent price, but I don't recognize it).

In any case, I think I'm set with jackets for a while- I've got a Dainese Rebel, a Teknic Violator, and a Fieldsheer- unless I see an absolutely stellar deal on something, I won't be buying another one for a while.

Yup- no armor in the forearms or shoulders, incorrect (for A*) sliders, etc- I think I'd rather not crash-test it.

My Teknic Chicane pants arrived today- like my Violator jacket, they are excellent quality and a really good buy at $225 (I am no longer interested in the Dainese Delta EVO pants at $500+).

I wear jeans with a 31"-32" waist, but I ordered these pants in 34" and I'm glad I did- the waist is elasticated so there's no issue there, but the legs are very snug (though they have stretch panels) even though I'm on the thin side- while they're comfortable when they're on, they're very difficult to get off (though they will loosen up with use)- I'm glad I didn't go for the 32" version, and the knee armor sits in the proper position.

They attach to the jacket via a 360* connection zipper, so it's a complete suit.

I won't be wearing it on the hottest days, but it's a good option for anything south of ~32* (or higher than that if I'm on the move- stop-and-go traffic would suck, tough):

Should be done with my current project before the end of March, and then I can head to BKK and go shopping- I can order gear from the computer, so I've gone overboard (I'm eyeballing a couple other things I don't need, so the faster I can finish up my work, the more money I'll save- I actually expected to be done with everything before the end of 2012, but this is LOS...)

I've dumped my other bikes and I need some new wheels- money used to be the issue- now it's lack of time that's the problem.

Now that 'an excellent bike' has finally been ordered, I picked up what will be my last pieces of gear for a while (now I have to order a few bike accessories).

I ordered an Alpinestars Orbiter one-piece suit (it should arrive next week) and a pair of Knox Handroid gloves (the coolest-looking gloves I've ever seen- a friend will bring them to LOS in April.

The Orbiter suit (which will come with the A* Bionic Race back protector and Bionic Freeride shorts)- it's more street than track and should flow a lot of air:
