^ Mrs still thinks I should have spent 1500 baht on an index....
Hope I will never have to demonstrate the difference.
If I did adventure riding, I would have gauntlet style like failsafes excellent ones above.
I just putter now, usually in a tshirt, so wrist protection is not gonna help much.
Failsafe I sure hope that we will not be doing a RIP thread about you. That is a monster bike. I would ride that in Europe and the states but never in LOS. I hope you have thought this out bro.
I plan to be around for a while, and I'm certainly taking steps to ensure it- if I do buy it I can sure-as-shit guarantee you it won't be due to lack of gear.
There are quite a few members here that own some fast bikes- at least one Panigale, several liter-bikes, etc- we all know the risks- as I said, I'm going to be very choosy regarding my spots and judicious in my application of power- while I can't control the dummies I'll be sharing the road with, I'm very aware of what's going on around me and I can generally avoid trouble- we'll see how it goes.![]()
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

^^ a big bike lets you be "quick" which isn't nessecarily the same thing as riding "fast" everywhere.
Quick lets you get out of trouble a 100 kph bike cannot avoid.
This is true- on a bike, acceleration (properly applied) can get you out of trouble and is actually a safety feature- a twist of the wrist leaves it all behind you- bikes that can't shake a Vigo from their tailpipes are at a serious disadvantage- it's ideal to be able to effortlessly leave traffic in the dust.
At the same time, stupidly applied it can fuck you up but good- it's a line that ain't exactly fine...![]()
I had a few "bullet time" moments on my quick bikes when I was younger.
I'm more relaxed now and they are just (fond) memories...
The Honda Big Wing store has an ever larger range of good quality gear. Most are Thai sizes, but have some large helmets from the likes of Shark and some really nice boots that one can actually walk in for about 4,500 baht.
Soft panniers are 10k a set, so I'll make do with my existing ones.
I've noticed that many of the local places are dropping their prices to close the gap on eBay (where you can often find free shipping to LOS)- generally the price difference is now less than 2K (factoring in import tariffs), which is a small enough amount to convince most people to forgo the shipping process (where there's always the possibility that your order will be 'lost')- if you're a big guy, though, proper sizing is always going to be a problem in Thailand.

For brand name clothing it is, but mine and the Midget's jackets were tailor made for a very reasonable fee. Admittedly, they're not as hi-tech as some of the stuff, but perfectly adequate for us.
Ebay is always a good place to get good stuff and is often a first port of call, especially with smaller items. USPS seem to have doubled their prices recently though, which is a bummer if you're ordering from the US.
Gloves are my bugbear.
I reckon half the glove manufacturers use ET as a sizing model.
I shop for gloves in The Paddock, Bkk. I've got pretty big mits and Komine do a nice range of 3XL++ gloves...... leather in the right place, elasticated in the right place, protective padding and gel in all the right places, will not break the bank. My first pair must've done a good 75,000km.
Growing Old Disgracefully!
Anyone tried fastcorner on rama III

Got these although they are copies for 4500 baht.

What do you think of the stitching? That's what would worry me the most.
Are you heading over to Impact for the show (I unfortunately can't make it)? There are bound to be some good deals there.
The stiching is acceptable. I would think they will only survive one accident. I havent found any pants here for my size. Also unlike boots the pants are well overpriced...
I dont think i will go to the show as i believe it targets car buyers....
Congratulations on the new bike.

Most textile stuff will only survive one accident regardless of who makes it.I don't know if you're interested in leather pants (maybe not, as you have a suit) but the AGV Sport perforated Willow pants are less than $200 ($179, I think) and are really nice quality- I have a pair- if you are making a trip over to the US or have someone coming to visit and can avoid the import tariff, they're a great deal.
Defender motorcycle jeans.

The jeans made by Drayko are CE-certified for abrasion resistance, and aren't much more $.

Panda Rider (the authorized LOS distributer) has great deals on Kriega bags (about the same price as in the US) so I ordered a waterproof US-20 and a US-10 Drypack- the 20 straps to the passenger seat and the 10 attaches to the top of it- if I'm not carrying a passenger I prefer any gear to be behind me rather than use a tank bag, and these bags don't hang over the side and increase overall width- cool stuff:
This is the 5 (which I didn't order), the 10, and the 20:
Installed and stacked:

Does anyone know of a Shark dealer in Thailand as I'm interested in the Evoline 3? It's a modular helmet which i know isn't popular with some but I like it.
SHARK INNOVATION 2012 EvoLine series3
I also like the NEXX XR1X1 which isn't modular but it will go well with the white Versys. Or the X40.

Just found it, although I can't find that specific model.

You bullied, you laughed, you lied, you lost!
The Shoei Neotec is at Red Baron for 23K, and it's a nice modular helmet- I don't know about the Shark Evoline 3 being available locally (I like how it looks)- on eBay it's $480 shipped to LOS, which would mean another 4K+ in import taxes (plus you'd have to be sure of your size).
^Cheers, I've had a look on the net at that one and I know they are excellent helmets but I just don't like the look of it. It appears massive. I'll have a look in the flesh next week. That Shark does seem to get very good reviews all round and is ECE and DOT approved and I'm guessing should be around 14K, but it's not SNELL.
http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/s...t-hakka-helmet This is the version I want. I think it will look good with the white versys which has a hit of red on the rear spring. Cheesy but I like it.
