Here are a couple good deals on jackets if anyone is looking:

$223 (6700 baht) shipped to LOS- AGV Sport perforated Topanga jacket (not very technical but a very good buy- they make a very nice product out of quality materials):

AGV Sport Topanga Perforated Leather Jacket :: MotorcycleGear.com

AGV Sport Laguna jacket- the only have a couple left in sizes US44/Euro54 and US50/Euro60- $269 (8000 baht) shipped to LOS- this is a highly technical jacket with excellent safety features- I actually ordered one at $370 in the States but it was a bit too tight on my arms (though it would have broken in)- its a steal at that price:

AGV Sport Laguna Leather Jacket :: MotorcycleGear.com

There are a few other nice jackets in their close-out section- add it to the cart to see the price with shipping to Thailand.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

There's a test of the klx250 vs wr250 vs crf250 in this weeks cyclenews online magazine. The cheapest bike wins - the Thailand built crf250. It uses the road based engine from the cbr250 apparently which makes it a bit heavier. Should also prove to be a bit more long lasting I would have thought as well. Yamaha too expensive.
Don’t argue with idiots because they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Honestly very similar review. For me it was the amount of aftermarket options is why i got a dtracker/klx. That will soon change as the honda market will be big.

Perhaps you could do a short review of your impressions of dtracker, always good to hear real life experiences with bikes rather than some of the bullshit put out by some magazines to either sell their publication or favoured advertisers. Or is it the Klx you have?

Actually i have both thats the beauty for about 15,000baht i purchased a new complete set of klx wheels. So for a little extra i have two bikes. If i want to do track or dirt its about a 25minute job to change.

Most info has been covered but heres my quick 2cents.

    Legal in thailand
Cheap for thailand and cheapest parts anywhere
    Proven and reliable
Lots of mods if you enjoy that sort of thing (i do)
It is a entry level enduro/motard no more no less.

The seat sucks. I replaced it.
    Limited fuel range
The power suck. I increased it
Riding posistion is high for me. I lowered it.

To sum it up if you want this type of bike honda and kawasaki are your only choice unless you want to spend stupid money. Its a fun bike and even though i have others i dont see selling it as it has its own purpose.

I don't know about the bars or the grips, but that was a great price on the A* GP-X gloves- they're $95-$120 everywhere else.

^^^ I hate to overpay maybe that makes me a cheap bastard. The bars would cost at least $30 to ship plus any duty so at 2000 they were a good deal. My old ones were bent from my accident. Grips i dont know but were still cheaper then the mx shop in pattaya.

Buying inferior gear and being willing to compromise on safety to save money makes one a cheap bastard- finding the best gear at a great price (like we do) is smart.

Bike shows are always an excellent place to find bargains- I never missed them when I was in NY or CA.

I'm flying out next week so bought myself some kit here in the UK before I leave.

Helmet wise I bought an Airoh S4:

NEW AIROH S4 WHITE LARGE MOTOCROSS ENDURO OFF ROAD ON ROAD HELMET | eBay

And bought a Held tropical jacket:

Motorcycle Clothing - HELD Tropic Summer Airflow Motorcycle Jacket

I have some Sidi Verteba boots and Dainese gloves but no pictures of those. Only thing I am lacking is trousers now, any suggestions? Of course I want something as cool as possible, I was perhaps thinking of some 'Draggin Jeans' ?

I would consider the Held summer trousers that are specifically made to connect to your jacket:

HELD 6466 Summer Motorcycle Trousers Zeffiro

If you go with another company for pants, the connection zipper might not be compatible (different size, male/female ends reversed, etc) and you'll have to go to the hassle of having a tailor put in a new one (which I had to do recently).

I still don't trust modular helmets enough to buy one, but that's my issue as I'm sure they're as protective as any other helmet.

Now I'm putting together a first aid kit- I think I can source just about everything in LOS except for one thing- I haven't been able to find QuikClot (or its equivalent) in any pharmacy- I think it's an essential part of any kit- I've seen two accidents where it was really needed but wasn't available, and one guy died from blood loss.

I can order it from the States if necessary.

Actually you are right, they cannot be as strong and rigid as a traditional full face. Does this mean I can look for another helmet

I'm working on my bike-oriented trauma kit- I ordered several 'Israeli bandages' and some QuikClot wraps yesterday- 600 baht shipped for 5 bandages (which seemed cheap) and 600 baht for each QuikClot wrap (which are pricey everywhere- cheap deals are either for an expired product or for one that's expiring this year)- now I need a CPR mask and some supplies for lesser injuries.

    Which model Arai is that?

Are those GoPro mounts different from the ones that come with the Motorsport edition? I've had mine for months and still haven't taken it out of the box.

    Its a arai rx-q

They are extra gopro mounts. I think motosprts comes with 2 curved and 2 flat. The shop here wanted 1000baht for a bag of 5. I paid 300baht from amazon
