^I wasn't famished, so that is all I ordered. I would call it a filling snack.
^^
Arai Wa????
Looks like shit to me and no doubt overpriced given that it is shit.
You think that's a pic of his actual meal?
It looks pretty much identical to what I had.
Which was better, the ones you had yesterday or the ones you had on Friday?Originally Posted by pickel

The ones at your place of course.
Though the ones at sunrise were slightly bigger.
That guy is an arrogant cock. Came into two different bars I was drinking in straight into the middle of our conversation announcing he was opening a restaurant. Who the fuck cares?Originally Posted by BillyZ
However I did try his restaurant Los Cabos and it was average. Nice Setting though, must be losing him a fortune as it was empty when we went.
Noticed his Great American Rib Co. went tits up in Raminthra also.
You seem to have some issues there mate.Originally Posted by Chairman Mao
Freedom fries are quite nice though.

I think the Thais version of 'American' fried rice says a lot more about them than the Americans.
The States to me is a very mixed bag when it comes to food.
Been to some wonderful restaurants there and some absolute garbage. The big cities like all big cities have a great selection, I lived around San Francisco and the Chinese food there particularly from certain regions such as Hunan was superb. Buy a Chinese take away 50 miles north and it's a different story.
Well done Bob. You're obviously not from over 'there'.Originally Posted by Bobcock
Not quite sure what you mean by that but I'd hazard a guess that I have spent more time in the States than you.
I have certainly never seen rice with tomato ketchup and a funny small sausage etc... in the States.
Thats because its not there. Had never and still have never seen American fried rice in the USA.Originally Posted by Bobcock

One step at a time, you gotta work Marmers around slowly...
"Khaaw Pad American (or Khao Pad American) literally translates to ‘American Fried Rice’. At first I thought that this was a dish Thai people thought was popular in the US. But recently I heard that this dish was made up by Thai cooks during the Vietnam war era, to give US service men something the Thais thought they’d want to eat while over here in Thailand during breaks. Also because it was simply not enough for a famished GI. so the chicken and other bits were added. Since most of those guys were under 21 the only seasoning they really knew was ketchup. Hence the mess know as American fried rice.Originally Posted by Thetyim
Forgive me, but isn't this thread about a shit hole overpriced "Mexican place" called Sunrise Tacos?
For people who love Sunrise Tacos you will be please to know that it appears that Tacos and Salsa has either changed ownership or gone out of business.
If true, and a message on T&S website seems to confirm this, it means Thailand has lost its best and most authentic Mexican restaurant.
That is truly unfortunate. Jorge knew what he was doing. The food was great. The salsas the best in town. What a rare thing for a person from Mexico to come over here and provide us with really good food.
It is tragic that so many idiots were not able to recognize good Mexican food. Now we are left with three places, one total shit (Sunrise Tacos) and two OK (La Monita and Los Cabos).
I suppose the only good news is that people do not have to eat at Sunrise Tacos trots.
If you live in Chiang Mai, consider yourself lucky because you still have Miguel's.
