You are completely missing the point here. I know, it's shocking.

Yep, I thought it better not to explain what I use the antenna for >> so that Planefinder can monitor the location of aircraft over Thailand and make this information publically-available on their website I've done this for the past 10 years+ with planefinder and flight24.

Never mind. I can also use my DIY skills to make a GPS antenna - might look 'messy' but should work OK

How will a GPS antenna help you locate airplanes?
They transmit telemetry data which among others contains their position but that is not in the GPS frequency range.

Absolutely correct comment! The planes transmit in the ADS-B band. But the Plane-finder receiver unit needs a GPS signal to work correctly. It's that GPS antenna that I've lost. The ADS-B data antenna is working fine

Does it need the GPS for time synch or is it just to provide your position accurately?

I think it's for time synch. The position of the data receiver is fixed at my location, so I'm not sure that it would need a GPS location to function correctly if my location is hardwired into the planefinder system. It's just a black box that needs ADS-B antenna, GPS antenna, power supply and ethernet connection and then forget it!

I'll get out my soldering iron and build a GPS antenna. I have a VNA (RF network analyser), so I can easily tune the antenna elements for resonance on the correct frequency.

Wife gets back to Germany on Saturday morning and is suffering from flu-like symptoms. She passes the Covid test but has a fever so I put her to bed for the week-end. I check up on her while I'm at work on Monday, but she still has a high fever. That evening I give her some paracetamol but the fever only drops a little, from 39.9 to 38.9, so still high fever. In the morning she feels better so I leave her in bed and go to work.

No bad headaches, no nausea, just flu-like symptoms and high fever but daily Covid test is always negative.

Today, I call three or four times to check she is okay and she reports fever hasn't gone down despite paracetamol. I rush home with the intention of taking her to the doctors, high fever for 4 days is starting to get serious in my book. Anyway, when I get home to check, she doesn't look like she has such a high temperature. I check my temperature with same thermometer and it reads 38.5C!

Go out and buy a new thermometer and find her fever has gone (36.5). She perks up and is feeling much better already. She still has flu but it's not so serious as I thought.

    ^ I'm a contractor Helge, I'm never sick!

But seriously, never suspected the digital thermometer was reading incorrectly until I couldn't explain why my wife had such a high fever for so long but no symptoms that might point to something more serious than flu..

Use it for my kids; (the one you can use in the ear)measures 1 degree too high.

    Can't remember who warned me.

Better calibrate it with a real thermometer, Troy

Went to the recycling place today (the dump ) with some cardboard from my son's new furniture.

Was nosy and had a look inside the "direct recycling" 20 footer container, where folks who hasn't got the heart to dump their more cared for belongings, can place them and hope that someone will pick them up and give them a new home.

Spotted 4 big boxes of singles, LPs, CDs and DVD movies. Had a look and they were in real good condition, so brought it home together with a real nice porcelain deer

    Mostly british music but nevermind.

65 cm of LPs stacked and I don't know how many CDs.

(One of my neighbors has an ugly habbit of coming over and saying: "You can have this".
and if I protest he just starts talking about the weather or the lousy condition of the blue shell fishing these days.

Today I paid him back with an almost complete Buck Fizz collection ! He got very quiet but did manage to stutter out if I shouted a beer.

    Victory is sweet)

Never knew that Depeche Mode made so many albums. Not my taste and they might, together with a few Erasure and U2 albums end up on the garden bonfire this summer.

The moan is that I brought home more shite than I got rid off.

    Nice deer though

Yeah, that will be the same total amount you'll get for a 'job lot' you found at the dump in Denmark.

Shame there's no pic of the porcelain deer.
