Tax number? Is there such a beast? Sorry. I thought it was your National Insurance number you were after.

All in one now, HM revenue and customs.
That's who you have to deal with.

Do you still have a National Health card? Your NI number may be on that.

No or at least not in Thailand, maybe in OZ somewhere, but the number is different any way.

Obviously I meant a UK NH card, not an Australian or Thai one.

I realize that, but would have taken my UK NHS card and my National insurance card with me when I returned to Australia.

I've just found my UK NHS card and you are correct; the NHS number is not the same as the NI number.

Been over 25 years since I needed the number, a lot of brain cells killed off in that time.

Anyway, phoned the British embassy, useless, they say you need to fly back as it's nothing to do with them.

Have email another HMRC site and the pension fund for advice, so am waiting for replies.

Anyone know of cheap flights to the UK as I may have to go to the DHS in person to get the number.

Common sense may have prevailed, not from the government of course, send an e mail to the pension fund, with the information I had given HMRC people.

That address I gave tallies with their records, so they may not need me to get the NINO number.
    Fingers crossed.

The weather dropped 10 degrees in two days in Switzerland.

Went from 29 to 19. I had to put socks on for the first time since May. Odd feeling, wearing socks.

Sort of like if you had sponges attached to your feet.

And then, of course, you have to dig out your trainers. And a cardy.

Glum days ahead, and will get worse.

We're in our 4th month of 30+ days (27-28 nights). I'm looking forward to having to wear socks trainers and a jacket.

Upgraded to Windows 10 a few months ago. Not bad, and quickly grew to like it.
Then it crashed and I had to do a system restore. No boot disc with me in Thailand, so off to the HP service agent.
"We have to send it to BKK". What??? Why can't you do it? "No disc".
Fok that. I have important data I need NOW.
Home again, google tells me to just press F11 repeatedly when you power up.
That simple. Send to BKK indeed! Ignorant oaf.
So, system restore function prompts to back-up data. Cool....USB receives all the compressed data.
System restore does it's majic, and I'm back to a state the machine was in 6 months ago...Windows 8.
Now, whether it's a Win 10-Win 8 conflict, or whether it's something else, I have not succeeded in unpacking the compressed back-up files.
    Bugger.
What'smore, things like my Thai2English app, McAffeee anti virus etc, all bought for and legit, were able to be downloaded with no problems about keys or ownership...their online system recognised my machine and there was no problem getting the software that I paid for back.
BUT, Microsoft Office, which I bought 3 years ago and paid for a perpetual license, will not give me my software again unless I have the key.
So, a MS product (Windows) failed resulting in me losing another MS product (Office), and the thieving bastards want me to fly to NZ and get the key out of storage or pay again.

Botsy's mama she told him "don't worry about your size"
(Shoo wop wop, sha-ooh wop wop)
She says, "Boys like a little more booty to hold at night"
(That booty, uh, that booty booty)
You know Botsy won't be no stick figure silicone Barbie doll
(Shoo wop wop, sha-ooh wop wop)
So if that's what you're into, then go 'head and move along

Because you know he's all about that bass
    'Bout that bass, no treble
    he's all about that bass
    'Bout that bass, no treble
    he's all about that bass
    'Bout that bass, no treble
    he's all about that bass
    'Bout that bass... Hey!
