Yep- even though you dropped your previous phone several times, you'll probably never drop your new one...Originally Posted by Travelmate
I haven't dropped mine again since the 'Bumper' was first fitted. Begging to think I don't need it.
Nokia N8! I have been looking for a phone with a really good camera and I have found out after reading a lot of tests and reviews that the N8 seems to have the best camera. Has hdmi so you can easily look at the pictures and videos on the tv screen in very good quality. Gsmarena had a blind test where N8 got 161 votes out of 208 as the best. Sony HX5 was second with 32 votes...
It also seems to have very good audio and GPS. Not very expensive either, about 14,000.
Ben
Mr. Earl, given your specific requirements, Ben is probably right on the money, and you're used to Nokia so there won't be a learning curve.

A slight correction to the article.for example, there's no evidence, at least at the moment, that the data are sent back to Apple).According to the WALL STREET JOURNAL on April 22, 2011; in a letter sent to Congressmen Markey (D-Mass) and Barton (R-Tex), Apple has admitted that the location data logged on Apple devices is uploaded automatically to Apple every 12 hours.Further, the data is collected from all iPads, iPhone3 variants, iPhone4's, Macs running Snow Leopard or later, and all Windows machines with Safari 5 or later. Granting that anyone can be tracked with any cell phone that is E911 compatible, because they 'ping' the network several times a second unless the battery is removed (even when turned off). But that requires warrants from a judge under telecommunications law/4th Amendment. Apple (or Google whose Android phones do the same thing as Apple, uploading more frequently) is under a slightly different law. Keep in mind that Google already voluntarily cooperates with the Chinese secret police to ferret out Chinese dissidents and turn them over. One cannot make the assumption that Apple would not do the same.Subotai Bahadur"

Currently, the NSA has access to all phone calls made on AT&T and Verizon. Yes, Mike P. the govt. does have the ability to monitor all 300m cell phones in the u.s. The govt gets around the FISA and privacy laws by having the monitoring done overseas by two non U.S. companies located in Israel. All phone calls are recorded and searched for key words i.e. terrorism. When these key words pop up, NSA will then have the location of the person who made the call."
Something you may want to consider.
A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
Well after living with the Samsung Champ for a couple of weeks I can report that as a dual sim phone it's really damn good.
Many of the apps are cool like the dictionary, the world clock
As an internet tool it's very weak because it has no operating system. The built in browser is all but useless. Not that I was expecting much.
The overall handset quality, battery life, and touch screen are superb.
Then it did something infuriating due to the lack of operating system I guess. The phone was receiving an SMS and an incoming call came in which subsequently locked up the screen and the whole phone. I had to remove the battery and restart to get it sorted.
Battery life should be great then ?Originally Posted by Mr Earl
Phone battery life seems to have more to do with the screen than anything else- a big, bright screen with a lot of graphics running is what drinks up your juice.Originally Posted by sabaii sabaii
I just downloaded the app Battery Doctor, I think it was on sale over the easter weekend for 99c, but maybe its that price all the time. Anyway here is a list of the main causes of battery eating that it gives.Originally Posted by FailSafe
1. Location Services
2. Push Notifications
3. Fetching Data
4. Push Mail
5. Large Number of Email Accounts (This will obviously increase the amount of Push Mail.)
6. 3rd Party Apps that stop the screen from dimming or shutting
7. Wifi
8. Bluetooth
9. Screen Brightness
10. Applying an equalizer if your playing back songs. EQ
11. 3G
my phone will play songs for 36 hours, but if i put the wifi on, the battery is dead after 3
What phone do you have? I just bought 2 extra batteries and an external charger for my HTC off eBay for 300 baht.
Yea the battery life is great. But it's pretty much useless as a "smartphone".
It's simply a dual sim phone with a very nice screen that's super light/slim and easy to carry around. Seems reasonably tough as well. It certainly bodes well for the Galaxy S Plus which has a reasonably fast processor and an effective operating system.
^^ Nokia X6
You've got very girly hands.
^ Gay hands
^ What do gay hands look like ?
I know that face
Is it Wayne someone
Wayne Sleep, that's a blast from the past, not one of my blasts, jaysus, theyre not even my hands on that phone
galaxy I9100 s2 has surfaced in Singapore - 1k SGD - 800 USD
but it is the one I want so I will just have to pony up in 2 weeks time when I am there
^That's a pretty healthy piece of change. Impressive specs on the phone.
But 24000 baht put's it above the Iphony4.
I'm liking the cheap little Champ just a phone and SMS tool and things like the dictionary app. For 3100 baht it's good value.
I played with an original Galaxy 9000 S for a few days with a DTAC gprs service and it was less than impressive as an internet tool. Maybe when the service providers sort out the 3G network it might be better. The screen and display are amazing. I bet the new Amoled plus even more so.
I also found the Android OS very limited.
I'm leaning towards the Iphony 4 mainly because I already use a mac and probably won't ever go back to windows.
After losing my phone last week in a taxi, I have been eyeing up a new smart phone
But then I got to thinking 23000 baht for an Iphone 4 ?
Shit for that price I could buy
Basic Nokia 1110 or whatever they're called 900 baht
digital camera 4000 baht
Netbook 9000 baht
MP3 Player 2000 baht
The look on Somchai the Taxi Drivers face when he pulls the Nokia out my pocket--- Priceless
So there we have for 16,000 baht a lot more spec and gadgets than any I phone 4 and It cannot be left on a bar or fall out of my pocket in a taxi
Another solid reason, every friggin smartphone needs charging daily, this shitty nokia goes for 3 or 4 days
