    Windows 10 Technical Preview

Well it's a vast improvement on Windows 8.x

No more one-stupid-app-at-a-time shit, the start menu is back, and it is so much faster.

If you want to try it out, the link is below.

Windows Technical Preview - Microsoft Windows

Seems pretty stable so far, although all I do on the PC I've installed it on is browse, torrents and XBMC.

I'l try it on some other platforms over the next few weeks.

Or you can run it in a VM if you just want a look.

Yeah, it looks good to me; a big improvement over the current crap. Looking forward to it becoming a free download in the coming months.

So simplified cut&paste for the command prompt (in the 9th iteration of NT!) , it finally has virtual desktops natively 20 odd years after everything non-Windows and it looks like Win 7?

All you tits on XP are just a pain in the arse for the rest of us.

Put a fucking secure OS on your PC FFS, even if it's Linux.

    True to form then.

This is Windows 9, but without the 9; so it seems like OSX.

It seems the '9' had to be jumped because of a coding convention they used to identify Windows 95 and 98.

The actual version number is 6.4

has anyone mentioned the built in logging for microsoft for those using the preview ?

"With Windows 10, we're kicking off the largest ever open collaborative development effort that will change the way we build and deliver Windows," a Redmond spokesperson told El Reg in an emailed statement. "Users who join the Windows Insider Program and opt-in to the Windows 10 Technical Preview are choosing to provide data and feedback that will help shape the best Windows experience for our customers."
[When you] enter text, we may collect typed characters and use them for purposes such as improving autocomplete and spellcheck features
Windows 10's 'built-in keylogger'? Ha ha, says Microsoft ? no, it just monitors your typing ? The Register

    It never gets old! Classic.

Windows 10 should be just about perfect for me laptop solutions; just a modern win 7.

You XP faggots need to get onboard, lest I post some gayer 80s vids...

The Windows 10 Technical Preview is generating plenty of excitement — though not exclusively in a positive way. The web lit up over the past couple of days with talk that Windows 10 had a built-in keylogger and was spying on testers.
Does Windows 10 really have a keylogger in it? Yes. It hasn’t been planted there to steal bank card numbers or website credentials, however. If you’ve installed software like the Windows 10 Technical Preview before, you know exactly why it’s there.
The “keylogger” is gathering usage data that will help Microsoft determine what’s working and what isn’t in the Windows 10 preview. It’ll help fix bugs in Windows Search or anywhere else a text input box pops up. It’ll help improve features like spellchecking and autocorrect — tricks that can be hard to pull off if Microsoft can’t see what you’re typing. The license agreement even mentions this specifically: “we may collect typed characters and use them for purposes such as improving autocomplete and spellcheck features.”
Is it scary that Microsoft can theoretically see everything you type in the Windows 10 Technical Preview? To some, sure. But we’re not meant to be using the preview for daily computing or any tasks that might involve sensitive data. The software is exactly what Microsoft said it is: an unfinished OS that they need help testing. If you’re willing to test it, you’re willing to have your usage analyzed.
If you’ve actually read through an EULA before — particularly one for a piece of software that’s still a work in progress — you know this is something companies do. Microsoft didn’t hide the fact that they were going to with the Windows 10 Technical Preview, either. It’s all right there in the EULA in plain English.
They even specifically state that personal information can be gathered. Microsoft told The Register that they “will continue to share information through our terms of service and privacy statement about how customer data is collected and used, as well as what choices and controls are available” as the Windows 10 release approaches.
You’ve got two choices, then. Keep using the Windows 10 Technical Preview and sharing your data with Microsoft, or shelf it until the OS is released next summer. Microsoft’s not going to turn off data collection because of sensationalist blog posts. They’ve got an OS to finish, and it needs to be a damn good one.

So Harry, XP's not so bad afterall. The Window's 10 is the direct conduit into NASA no doubt without the need for middlemen. Now they need only readers who can decipher the text and come to conclusions regarding posters...Nice work MS. Another Government clone same as Google and the rest.

You mean they are using my TD posts to plan the next space mission?

Well fuck my old boots, that's pretty cool.
