Better half has, rightly, decided she has had enough of her iPhone 3 which is more of less unusable. She has also decided to do what I have done, bugger the smart phone, have a tablet with a decent usable screen and a cheap dumb phone which will last 2 weeks between charges.

So we've been looking in the shops and the two that stand out are the iPad 3 and the galaxy tab2

Viewing them in the shop I would say that the aspect ratio of the iPad is better suited for ebook reading and the tab's is better for wide screen video playback. The iPads screen is much nicer than the tabs, but its heavier and takes a long long time to recharge the batteries.

Given that the device is going to be used mainly for web browsing, watching thai TV, reading books/comics and if possible working with word and excel documents. does anyone have any suggestions as to help with making the choice.
