I agree, but it's easy for people on the internet to be heartless...sorry for your loss and RIP to your mother.

Though, I don't think it's helpful to be trawling the internet for potentially hurtful comments that will exist on sites such as this. They attract some people who enjoy posting offensive comments, even where the dead are concerned.

The media, especially multi-media, especially in Thailand, is a bitch, and as much as it's understandable you wanting to read what's being written, it's not going to help in the long run.

I cant say how I'd feel in your situation or what I'd do, but I really think you should stop browsing this type of site for your own sake.

Some ppl just should stay home or remain in very closed watched areas while far away !

Sorry for her, but the conditions in Phi Phi are as they are, and this is in Thailand many miles away from the place she is used with...Tropical rain, poverty and corruption makes those floods a near normal happening in this areas.

Just treat straight away any infections in tropical or not usual places, even small scratches, coz it can cost you a life !

    RIP
    All very true.

So the bstard travel agents should be made to advertise it as so , instead of lying through their teeth.

    Jemma,

I agree with khmen, there is not a lot to be gained by just looking in on boards like this one, although I do think that even the least discreet of our members would temper their comments if they knew a loved one of the deceased were reading. That being said, if there is particular information you are looking for there are some knowledgeable people on this board (believe it or not) and I'm sure someone would try to help you if there were something you wanted to know.

Very sorry for the loss of your mum.

You're not wrong, hordes of photographers and cameramen trying to barge in and get photos of the body.

That's one sick thing in Thailand that pisses me off no end.

At least your mother had a dignified passing.

    Sorry for your loss.

I bet she was excited and looking forward to it Jemma , I am so sorry for the early demise of your Mum , and I alone know how a seemingly trivial initial incident , can turn a nasty corner if your lucks out , ( I was literally 2 days away from having my right foot amputated through poison , a waterbourne infection got in where I had a touch of atlete,s foot 20 odd years ago ) please don,t take offence by my remark " poor ol gal " she actually looked a young 46 to me ,, it,s just a general term I use ol gal ,,ol boy RIP to your Mum

There is lots of water about EVERY TIME it rains in Samui. The road drainage system (which I believe the Romans had better) is filled with silt and dirt washed down from deforested hills (a whole another story) so, the drains simply overflow with the sewage that is dumped into them. After awhile, one learns to wash their feet even after a bike ride...

All very sad...hate to think of the potential dangers from the current floods everyplace here knowing the sad state of some infrastructure...water supplies, sewers, drains and the plethora of septic tanks...
