The bnp is a great idea, gets all the nutter's together in the same place. Gives the poor fears a soap box to shout out their poison and makes it much easier to keep an eye on them. Given the uk's history with far left groups.... Going back to the O/P, all the report on the average Brits views on immigration did was state the obvious, be they white asian or black. Every politician reported before the election that all folk wanted to talk about was immigration, just about every question thrown at politicians during TV debates was the same. Yet to some this is still a shock and something to be concerned about, as if the masses still need educating (in the right way).

The report on this survey was in all the papers by the way, not just the usual suspects. We have the 10 yearly census coming up soon, the results, when published, should be interesting and I suspect worrying, on top of the recent report of something like a net increase rise of 30% in immigration last year, against the previous year.

Meanwhile, more and more folk are losing their jobs and services are being cut as new classrooms and schools need funding to deal with the influx, social housing is at a premium, with just about every London Borough (32) having 1000's in emergancy housing, paying millions of taxpayers money to private landlords to fulfill their statutory responsibilities, and areas like Aldershot are saying they haven't the funding, infastructure or resources to deal with the newly settled Gurkhas and so on.

I call it madness myself.

Nothing to stop white British setting up the corner shops that open at the crack of dawn and close at midnight. But why take that job when they can work in local government as a Bouncy Castle supervisor, or on the checkout at Tesco.

Specious bollocks... that's a red herring and a straw man... the minimum wage elsewhere is irrelevant, when the jobs are only available to citizens inside a state, and cheaper immigrants can't be imported to distort the market and keep the price low, then the price must rise to meet the demands of the labour pool... surely that's obvious?!

The thing that did stop native people from running the local shops as they used to was immigrant labour being supported in undermining the market conditions by being able to exploit third-world patron-client relationships and religious/ethnocentric and familial links... they set up trading cartels, excluding outsiders, and were enabled to bring in futher "clients" to add to the bottom of the labour pyramid through marriage trade and basically indulged in borderline human trafficking over the decades where it wasn't as regulated as now.

Add to that the generations inculcated with socialist claptrap about rights, and the benefits trap enforced by successive left-wing governments, to say that there is "nothing to stop..." is utterly disingenuous.

Immigration has not "enriched" anywhere... it simply creates new tensions and problems where there weren't before.

The "backlash against immigration", has been going on since the 19th century when the first mass influx of people came in (previous waves were microscopic <1% of pop., ethnoculturally verissimilitudinous, and spread out over many decades...).
Be it the massacre of jews at York in the 1100s or the mass influxes since the 1880s, whenever an alien group is implanted or invades, conflict ensues... that's been written about even by Aristotle as far back as the 4th century BC... we are still the same species...

The influx of foreign spouses is only conflated with mass immigration by disingenuous left-wing bedwetters desperate to find some insidious personalising way of winning an argument by appeal to emotion that they have lost when attempting reason.
