Two in three Americans support Assange's US arrest and trial over 'Wikileaks cablegate'

A new poll has found that two of out three Americans are in favour of the arrest and trial of whistleblower website WikiLeaks' founder Julian Assange in the United States.

According to a Fox News poll released on Friday, 66 percent voters said that “the owner of the website” who received and leaked the classified US diplomatic cables should be arrested and put on trial.

When the focus was placed on the person who “stole and leaked the information,” the feeling is even stronger, as 83 percent favour arrest and trial, the report said.

Americans are far less harsh in their judgment of news organizations that published the leaked information, as only 38 percent would push for punishment of those media outlets.

Opinion Dynamics Corporation conducted the national telephone poll for Fox News among 900 registered voters on December 14 and 15.

The poll has a three-point error margin.

Sign me up as an American who doesn't give a shit - about any of the three questions.

Wouldn't put much faith in the numbers of this poll.

1. It is a poll of the watchers of a biased news station.

2. It is a Fox News poll.

I'm sure the 900 people they interviewed provided a fair-and-balanced representation of all 300,000,000+ of us...

Kinda strange how they say he should be put on trial, but don't actually mention the crime he should be tried for. Perhaps because there isn't one. Just another good old fashioned mob out for a lynching or a witch burning.

This is a FOX poll. To participate in this poll, you must qualify as follows:

Live in a trailer;

Have less than half of your teeth;

Have no more than a grade school education;

Have a couple of your children that call your wife Grandma, and rightfully so.

Believe that you are really FREE.

And most of all, be proud to be a Merican, and have the luxury of all of the above.

Ridiculous poll. But the results are not surprising given that the US media has relentlessly demonized Assange. Many are sheep but not all.

a couple of things....

as ridiculously partisan as fox 'news' is, i don't think this is a poll of only their viewers. this poll was done by an outside company (opinion dynamics) for fox 'news'. i don't know anything about them, but I'd guess they have a history of doing polls for republicans.

as with all polls, one of the most important aspects is how the questions are phrased...and in which order they are asked.

for example, if the first question was, "should the person who stole and leaked classified US diplomatic cables be arrested and put on trial".....it's undoubtedly going to get a high 'yes' response.

if the second question was, "should the owner of the website that received and leaked the stolen classified US diplomatic cables be arrested and put on trial" is also going to get a high yes response.

don't forget that this was a telephone poll....imagine the average american picking up the phone and being asked these two question (with this type of pejorative wording) and in this order.......of course the number is going to be high.

How about a poll to see if these retards think that the people who did the wrongdoings as reported on Wikileaks should be arrested and put on trial?

These are the same clowns who will be begging their Government to take away more of their freedoms and liberties (what little are left) the next time there is a successful terrorist attack.

If they didn't lie in the first place Wikileaks would not exist..
