I'm not worried but casually following this. The media is letting the public know which is very important, in tracking swine flu, symptoms and how to prevent it.
But there is going to be some "hysteria" in the coming week out of the mainstream media, IMO.
They're screening for it at the airport now, which actually means they have a machine that can tell the difference between a sick swine and a 45 year old British or American housewife. Technology is amazing!

1918 flu pandemic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia [wikipedia.org] -
"The 1918 flu pandemic (commonly referred to as the Spanish flu) was an influenza pandemic that spread to nearly every part of the world. It was caused by an unusually virulent and deadly Influenza A virus strain of subtype H1N1"
Influenza A virus subtype H1N1 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia [wikipedia.org]
"The Spanish flu, also known as La Gripe Espaņola, or La Pesadilla, was an unusually severe and deadly strain of avian influenza, a viral infectious disease, that killed some 50 million to 100 million people worldwide over about a year in 1918 and 1919"
It has since mutated (several times) and there is a H1N1 variant in swine today. However, the Spanish Flu was an avian flu and that specific strain no longer exists in the wild.
We now return to your regularly scheduled unsubstantiated fear mongering.

My grandfather died in the 1918 outbreak he was just 26, seems to affect 25-45 year olds the most which seems odd as you'd think the opposite. My mum was 3 at the time.
Tamiflu price will go through the roof again, bought some a couple of years ago it was 60 quid for a weeks supply, look for long expire date
I bought it for bird flu then it was said to give some protection by shortening the illness by a day or two, it does not prevent it just lessons it a bit. you have to take it at the start or it is not as effective, two a day. Better than nothing I guess but not a cure or preventative, that's what I recall anyway. Don't know if it's as good against porky flu.

Tamiflu and Relenza will not help you, this is a strain that has not been met with previously so any pills or jabs will not be effective
mind you, there is little info on the people that died in Mexico
age group, class, whatever
and no info on the people that got it and are well again, no numbers, there may have been thousands that just got well again and never saw a doc
It seems that anyone outside Mexico that has the flu only has it in a mild form. So far
It may all be a panic that is essentially nothing more that normal flu
I have reported your post
I have not read every post and probably won't but I will give you my opinion and whether or not it has been mentioned before in another post.
If you look at our history, and in the last hundred or so years we have had depressions and then World Wars which killed off hundreds of millions of humans.
Then after the wars we had economic boom with a few minor economic hiccups which were more like money market adjustments in between.
Now we have a world in strife with this horrific economic meltdown, entire society's who can't be fed but people still having babies across the board.
Those few global chiefs that sit in the Hague and largely determine the human race's future can't rely on conventional wars to cull the earth's population anymore, todays medical breakthrough are elevating the life span of most humans and the global population growth is out of control.
What better way then to plant a sinister new virus amongst the world population and to cull a couple of hundred million. Neat, tidy and no blame on any individual group.
I also believe they have cures for terminal diseases like cancer and others but cannot afford to allow this planet to continue to become as overpopulated as it has become (therefore these cures are pigeon holed).
I know my suspicions are probably too horrible to imagine but really something has to be done as this rock we all live on is melting away under our feet at the moment.![]()
the main problem with many of these theories is the amount of people that need to keep it a secret .Originally Posted by Loy Toy

I find it a very easy theory to believe. Not everyone knows the bigger picture of what they are working on.
^^ Yes I agree such a sinister plan would be incredibly difficult to hide but human technology and know-how has shown a decided talent in inventing how to kill and maim rather than cure and resolve peacefully.
As mentioned by me I really feel that all these new strains of viruses and diseases we have witnessed over the last 3 decades are the products of human hands and in an attempt to avert global over population.![]()
And why will two generic drugs which help lessen the length of an influenza attack not be effective against another strain of influenzaOriginally Posted by DrAndy
The news has already made reports that you will be given antivirals if you are found to be infected - Relenza and Tamiflu.
Strange that.

Why all of a sudden all these new incurable virus land on our doorstep and in the last 30 years?
Talking to a friend of mine today and we said pretty much the same thing LT
Incurable viruses occur all the time (there's some debate over whether any virus is curable, rather than just treatable.) Thankfully most of them happen in places that are lightly populated. Statistically we're overdue for a flu pandemic. While I'm stocking up on Tamiflu I don't see any reason to think that this is the result of anything other than nature and sloppy agricultural practices. I may be wrong but I find that Occam's razor is generally a pretty useful tool for approaching reality.

Goodness Loy Toy, your fcuked up! problem is i agree with you! to tale it further I even think the majority of the fat people in the world who are primarily poor working class and no longer needed are being killed off, whats a little more fear going to achieve apart from subversion?
