GWB has also bowed the Saudi king.
What's the problem? Just good manners.
I don't really care much either -- whatever the protocol dictates.
I am concerned that Obama isn't up to the task of being president.
He appears vulnerable. Perhaps that's why the world was pulling for him to become president.
I hope I'm wrong.

That'll wear off really quickly. (the aura, not the skin color)
No sense arguing about it now, rob. We have what we have.
Is it no longer healthy to voice opinions and express concerns?
Am I a racist for suggesting that my president is a novice?
Sorry, I don't play the empty rhetoric game. Take it somewhere else. Obama's my president and I'll apply the same criteria toward him as I have every other.
In my opinion he wasn't the best candidate. That doesn't mean I have to ridicule his every move. I view him with the same skeptical eye I view every US president.
I like his view on Cuba -- but it's symbolic, nothing to gain really. I like his views on Iraq -- force them to be a real government and get off Uncle Sam's tit. I like his views on rendition and unmanned drones attacking Pakistan targets.
He appears vulnerable. Does that opinion offend you?

So Obama gave a little bow out of respect for his position. I'd be willing to be Bush has been blowing this guy for years.
Tex, why are people of your political bent always the first to bring up racism in regard to this president? Guilty conscience? In any case, no, of it course it isn't racist to oppose Obama.
What "rhetoric game"? I was simply pointing out that as "vulnerable" as you think Obama makes the US appear, Palin was downright scary. McCain wasn't so bad. Obama is looking suspicious as hell right now re the bailout of the banksters, if you want to know what I think.
Not at all. Everything else being equal, I can't see how he looks more vulnerable than his predecessor, and if he is in a tough spot I don't see how one could argue that it isn't a result of the impossible mess Bush left him to clean up.

Care to define that?your political bent
Let it loose Rob.
Everyone who didn't vote for Obama doesn't automatically hate him.
It's a very divisive attitude that I believe is detrimental to America as a whole.
This concept of pick-a-side, only one, because you're too lazy or too busy to weigh each policy on its merits ... does nobody any favors.
There's a tendency to commit -- and subsequently defend that commitment. I don't buy it. I didn't buy all the criticism of Bush and I don't buy all the criticism of Obama. This bowing thing for example.
correction, you don't buy any criticism of Bush period. Mainly, because you have a patriotic hardon for the man.Originally Posted by Texpat

As an inveterate Muslim-hater from the age of ten, I honestly cannot see the problem with Obama's "fealty". It's called diplomacy. It's in the same league as his statement about America not being or ever will be at war with Islam. Any low-level security wonk knows otherwise, it's just one of those things you can't say out loud. Butter 'em up and let 'em think you are philosophically at odds with all that came before. It may just work. It certainly can't hurt. Obama works for big business...just like all presidents before him. Anyone who thinks otherwise is naive in the extreme.
^^Obama is just another player in the false two-party paradigm.
"For many conservatives, the defining image of Mr Obama’s European tour was not the adoring crowds but the way America’s new president bowed before the king of Saudi Arabia."

It depends on what your definition of ‘bow’ is…
The Obama administration is still denying that the president bowed to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, but Fox News has the best “dancing around the word ‘bow’” analysis so far:
A video of the greeting shows Obama significantly stooping before the 84-year-old monarch.
Significantly stooping!
A Deplorable Bitter Clinger
A-HAHAHAHAHA LOL
You know, Obama may have, um, "bowed" (if it can really be called that) to some Saudi King, but at least he didn't have all his money tied up with the Saudis the way the Bush family has...
Sadly it seems that Obama-hating is now the new pastime for Republicans. It doesn't really help anyone, but that's what they've been reduced to.
You are all full of sh**t the real story is there were two news pool cameras: the one for the U.S. media shows him shaking hands but the other for the Muslim world has him bowing to his flipping knees...the bugger didn't expect the rest of the world to see the mussie version...that's the real story
Maybe it is more elusive, did he :
~Bow down~?
~Bow low~?
~Bow out~? or
~Took a bow~?
