worked with good bunch of blokes and the money was good. We used to go fishing or diving after work. Drink lots of beer after work helped as well. It not for the faint hearted but after a while you tend to turn a blind eye and go numb to seeing the violence. It's part of life up there. Not that all of them are bad people It's the alchol or other substances that makes them crazy. The sad part is the young kids grow up thinking this is an aceptable way of life. I watch one day one of the lads ( aboriginal) that worked for us knock his mum out because she would not give him a cigarette. He thought that was okay.

The cops, (you know, the ones whose job it is to stop people beating each other to a pulp), have been set upon by angry mobs and had to barricade themselves in the police station until reinforcements could be flown in on more than one occasion.

Perhaps we should send our intrepid reporter from the NT News to these places to sort things out? DD could act as his back up.
