Nice surprise an unexpected credit to my account today.
First I apologize not in Airline thread I tried the search function, Mods may remove to there.
I cancelled a recent flight from Helsinki , excellent customer service emailed 5 m after we spoke to confirm 100% cash refund, no quibble, no offer of vouchers Thai style LIES.
Customer service estimated expect 2-3 weeks from them with the usual caveat credit card company may delay final transfer back to me. I recall a FIRM in Chicago "sat" on my entitled refund 5 months, after a lawyers letter one week plus an ex gratia extra fee flight, so it does pay to persist if you are 100% in the right and in a jurisdiction where enforceable at a reasonable cost/time frame. WHICH IS BASICALLY FUNCTIONING DEMOCRACIES
I read poor sods who entrusted Thai with hope of flying are waiting years and still unrefunded.
To be fair I've had refunds /declining vouchers from SAS, Emirates, Air France, Alitalia, Nok and Air Asia over the years but usually about 2 billing cycles 2-3 months.
I was content as after my erstwhile employers , Qatar ALASKAN, and Cathay Finnair is one of the few airlines who seem straight and deliver what they say. I recall a 18 month tussle with British Airways explaining why my friend could not speak to them himself or use the flight. He was buried in Toronto , I had paid for his ticket. Small claims and a death cert seemed to seal it. I think they realize some complainants just yield or die.
Well 8 days after , fully refunded., Well done you super efficient Suomi. Not the most luxurious airline in the world but one of the few with regional connections in the Baltic area, Tampere Tallinn etc
Kittos as they say in Finland.
FINNAIR it does what it says on the fin!
Since Norwegiai folded, there are cheaper ways to Oslo if you want 2 days Scooting about via Singapore Berlin and god knows where but via Helsinki good option , here' their Oslo lounge a nice end and a perfect FINNISH.
I think they fish for trolley dolies in same N Europe pool as BA , SAS Finnair seem to get first pick
Rumours that BA used retired Grimbsy fish fillleters are battered. I trust the Russian situation will steer clear of teh Finns they had a good hiding in tthe Winter war for while, SISU means gutsy also the superbly rugged engineered vehicles made at Tavesthus/Hemeenlina for NATO and clearing forests and great folks to work /drink with.
