I`m certain that when the incident is debriefed, the question of "when was it decided that a full evacuation would be required" will come out.
Another thing I`m certain of is, communication will have gone to pot with the amount of crews in the building.

Buy him a couple of pints for me. A lot of these blokes were working for fourteen hours today and they were brave to go into that building. Sky TV News showed four going off duty, big, strong, fit men all totally knackered. I will not have dopey twats on here criticise them. They did what they should have done, for sure, but we should all be glad that we have them and praise them accordingly.

SO who were the tenants in the apartment?
I'm guessing the main stream media/police etc is going to go PC nazi and refuse to say.
My bet, the fridge was stuffed to the brim with Ramadan treats, which overheated it.
That or a chubby African family had the fridge rammed with imported bush meat

don't know there are several missing people
Even an elderly British woman, she must have lived there for decades ,before the council started gaving these super cheap rent apartments only to immigrants.

This African lady is missing too.
The politician probably used his connections to get her the hugely subsidized place.
Grenfell Tower fire: Labour MP David Lammy searching for ‘dear friend’ Khadija Saye missing in the blaze

Looking for our dear friend Khadija Saye who lives 20th floor of Grenfell Tower on fire this morning she always wears this Africa necklace.

24-year-old photographer Khadija Saye – a mentee of the Tottenham MP’s wife, who is an artist – was last heard from at 4am, shortly after the fire broke out.

Blue of course is a miracle of modern science being the first IVF baby to have been cultured in a Petri dish from a cell of a staphylococcus bacterium crossed with an egg donated by a hyena before insertion into the womb of a Bonobo ape.

Says that 3 Thai families lived in the block of flats, the named surviving family is written above in Thai.
I hope the other 2 families are okay, amazing how these Thais in London keep in touch via social Internet.
I wonder how Thais got council housing in London?, looks like the block was mainly housing Muslims and asylum seekers. Shocking to see the state London has descended to, BBC must have had to hunt for a white resident to interview. Willing to bet it was not a fridge fire that caused it, more like a candle or illegal gas in a flat.

All true and summed-up by no less than blue himself in this rather candid admission from another thread:

Looks like from where? That doesn't match the council records. You are nothing more, God knows you couldn't be less, than a bigot making up lies to justify the filth that swills around in your sewer if a brain.

Terribly sad with people losing their lives and some their homes not including all their possessions.

Why is it silly? I`ve been a firefighter for 20 years and in command of crews for 12. Do you know what types of communication are in use? I`m not in LFB but, im quite sure their equipment isn`t too dissimilar to my own and some of it is substandard to say the least, which can and does hamper communications on a regular basis.

Many of these flats are illegally sub-let by absentee council tenants

2 bed flat there is easily £300 pw but more likely £50-60 per bed space and 3-4 to a room. So a two bed flat full of illegals can easily make £600 pw. Not a bad tax free screw if you're living in Lahore and the extended family has ten of these flats on the go, for no other outlay than time served on a housing list

My own GP was mugged on that estate doing a house call. I used to swim at the leisure centre. The estate is dangerous and awash with drugs

The media has done a stellar job of focusing on the respectable community. The reality is cery different

Nice to get the real picture from somebody who knows the dump. Media claimed 500, then 600 residents which seems high for 120 2 bed units. Illegal letting used to be rife in my old town, council too gutless to do anything about it for obvious reasons, and you can bet a lot in those flats were claiming single occupancy for council tax reasons. Might never know how many were living there.

When I lived in Shatin, HK, there was a typhoon followed by a landslide, just on the other side of the railway tracks from us. There was a shanty settlement there, that led to the Temple of 10,000 Buddhas- it was nice, I took my Dad there about two weeks before the event. I liked to go there and sit down in a shanty shop, enjoy a cheap beer or two, and watch people go by (some things don't change). And the people were nice- I think maybe a bit intimidated by gweilo too.

It's all under ten foot of mud now, and has been for years. The villagers there were undocumented, you see. Illegals from China. So nobody bothered to dig them up, or even account for them. Nobody knows how many died, and frankly nobody cares to. This was roughly 1994, or 5.

Maybe some things are best left unknown.
