I really do think you have gone quite insane. Were you already suffering mental health problems when you took up your self imposed isolation among heathens in your jungle retreat?

Paris attacks: At least 153 killed in gunfire and blasts, French officials say

    Updated 0221 GMT (1021 HKT) November 14, 2015 | Video Source: CNN

    • A journalist who was at a concert at the Bataclan concert venue and escaped after the shooting started told CNN: "We lied down on the floor not to get hurt. It was a huge panic. The terrorists shot at us for 10 to 15 minutes. It was a bloodbath." Julien Pearce didn't hear the attackers speak, but he said one friend who escaped heard them talk about Iraq and Syria. Later, he said the men were speaking French.

    • CNN affiliate BFMTV, citing French officials, said gunmen were still at large.

Inside the Bataclan: 'A bloodbath,' witness says

    • At least 153 people were killed in the Paris and Saint-Denis shootings and bombings, French officials said. Among the victims, 112 were killed at Bataclan, according to the Interior Ministry. Saint-Denis is home to the national stadium where the soccer match was being played.

    • Five suspected attackers have been "neutralized", the Paris prosecutor's office said Saturday, French media reported. It was unclear what that term precisely meant.

    • Michael Dorio, brother of a member of the band that was playing at the Bataclan concert, said he spoke to Eagles of Death Metal drummer Julian Doris about 20-30 minutes after the attack. "He said he had been performing and heard the gunshots. They stopped playing and hit the deck and went backstage and exited," Michael Dorio told CNN.

    • BFMTV reports that SWAT units stormed Bataclan and that the siege was over. Two attackers were killed, a police union said. Police brought out at least 100 hostages from the concert hall, a CNN producer said; some appear to be wounded. President Francois Hollande Francois told reporters outside Bataclan that "terrorists capable of carrying out such atrocities must know that they will face a France that is determined and united."

The network reported there was a hostage situation at one of the three sites where shootings took place. BFMTV said the ongoing hostage situation was at a theater named Bataclan.
There was a lockdown at the Stade de France due to possible explosions, according to French media. President Francois Hollande was at the stadium, watching France playing world champions Germany in a friendly soccer match, but he left to go to the Interior Ministry.
Police were outside the scene of one of the shootings, a restaurant in the 10th District.

Lylia Melkonian, a reporter for France 2, told CNN the neighborhood has many restaurants that were packed with patrons. Melkonian said authorities were evacuating the area.
A witness told BFMTV that firefighters were on the scene to treat the injured.
In early January of this year, two gunmen attacked the Paris offices of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, killing 12 and wounding 11.
Said and Cherif Kouachi wanted to punish the magazine for the publication of cartoons that they believed mocked the Prophet Mohammed. The Kouachi brothers two days later were shot and killed in a standoff with police in Dammartin-en-Goele.
Amedy Coulibaly, an associate of Said and Cherif Kouachi, attacked a Jewish grocery store in Paris, taking more than a dozen people hostage and killing four. Coulibaly had killed a policewoman the day before, on January 8. Couliably was killed when police stormed the kosher market.
HermanTheGerman, you forgot to post a link to your OP (I thought that was required in a News OP).

Seems you are also hiding the real article title.

There is no reference to Islam in the title or the whole article as being related to this attack. This thread should not be in News but in the Lounge or in your Speakers thread.

Watching some of the news reports I caught Francois Hollande's spiel to the cameras in which he came out with all the usual stuff about how they are going to be ruthless in hunting down the accomplices to this atrocity. The thing is, France has tolerated for years the ragbag army of Muslim/African dross which has congregated around Calais and been allowed to pitch camp, all of whom are undocumented and unprocessed.

How on earth could any country incapable of dealing with such a bunch of economic migrants from every shithole in the world possibly deal with real terrorism?

Their weakness, and that of the other EU countries, in dealing with breaches of their territory will haunt them for years to come.

We all knew this was coming in some form or another, so why are people surprised? I seriously doubt anyone other than islamic extremists would shout Allah Akbar while shooting into a defenseless crowd while wearing body explosives. No doubt, in my mind, that more of these situations will be coming near you soon.

Of course it was an Islam inspired attack, no doubt funded by one of the many muslim groups under the umbrella of AQ/ISIL.

Some reports from eye witnesses heard references to Syria/Iraq made by the perps and the odd "Allah Akbar " as they took their potshots.

The utter irrationality of muslim terrorism calls for desperate measures.

I think decimation of immigrants ( pour encourager les autres ), prohibition on travel, closure of all mosques and schools, the banning of their religion are all reasonable steps and any failure to observe restrictions should result in immediate deportation via prison ships to whichever shithole is handy.

Who else would it be? Witnesses have them shouting Allah Akbar as they shot people and at least 4 of the attackers blew themselves up with suicide belts. Although no doubt the false flag loons will be peddling their nonsense soon.

Parisian authorities now saying 150 dead and 200 wounded. Jihadi social media all lit up and celebrating but they don't yet know who's responsible either although general assumption there is that it's IS.

Agree 100%. If this is truly a war on terror, measures should be taken to minimize or disrupt any possibility of further extremist attacks. What did we do during the war with Japan or Germany to quell homeland attacks. Anyone remember? I do.

Was it only yesterday on the Jihadi John thread that several posters were lobbying for fair trials for terrorists?

I don't think I was one of those posters Davis. It ususally takes something like this to wake some people up and drag them back into reality. Maybe some countries will get real now when it comes to those guilty of this type of nonsense.

Cops say all the shooters dead but this was a well planned operation. Responsible group will make sure the planners are out before they claim responsibility. Also may be more planned near term.

What relevance does that have to what just happened? Of course arrests, when possible, would be better, gathering intelligence and all that. And surely fair trials are a fundamental part of our civilization. If you'd prefer a system that relies on summary executions and exemplary punishments you may feel more at home in Syria.

    Never said/implied you were, Rick.

As for 'getting real', I fear that ship has sailed as far as Europe is concerned...France more than many other countries. Too late.....

Why are these jerks that commit these atrocities called terrorists , they should be called Cowards , how much of a terrorist do you have to be to walk through a theatre and shoot unarmed people, coward is a much better name for them and if all the media called them that, it may stop a bit of chest beating.
RIP to all victims in Paris.

Not sure if this will help or hurt Hollande politically, but if it's the former, these attacks come at a very convenient time for him. If he uses this like Bush used 9-11 he might save his political career.

"The Opinionway survey in Le Figaro newspaper said 20 percent of voters approved of Hollande, five points up from the last such poll in October. However, three years after taking office, some 79 percent said they were dissatisfied with the president."

It does seem so. After the Charlie Hebdo attack and the recent "chatter" about IS targetting the US and Russia, one would have thought and hoped that the French security services would have been aware of an imminent attack. Perhaps they were but could not prevent it. Whatever, it's a horrendous thing to happen. RIP to all the victims.

Intelligence services have to try to stop every attack while the terrorists only need to succeed occasionally. Any of you James Bonds care to tell us how many attacks intelligence agencies have prevented as opposed to how many have got through ?
