Well what can I say, best laid plans and all that.
Two hours in with the pissing rain and humid heat, mist and steam rising from the tarmaced country roads.
I stopped to get a few pics and came a cropper on the wet surface.
A sheep farmer with a number plate to match..
A classic jag and mini in my favourite colours..
A soggy reflection..
One of my cleaned up cuts..
Comfort food..
Steak n kidney baby's head, chips, peas, gravy, curry n ketchup..
Shalom
^ Why is the blonde beer a red-head?
Nice weekend for a bike ride
I found Orwell's Animal Farm. Never seen a horse sitting down before.
Don't know what breed these are on the right but a nice warm coat
Would make a nice rug
Bamboo grove
No thing quite beats a few hours in the saddle on a glorious Summers day to recharge the batteries and release those endorphins.
Atop a viaduct..
A quick trivia question for the 007 enthusiasts, name that car?
Below a viaduct..
The stairway to Heaven..
Either I'm getting taller or these bridges are getting smaller..
The mill..
A miniature Stonehenge..
Quintessential English..
When you get lost and find an abandoned VW campervan..
A fully loaded homemade pizza to finish the day..
If anyone could do the honours and enlarge the pics, it would be appreciated.
Cheers
Joe
Don't forgot to do some plane spotting if you're around the airport
Looks like something out of Last of the Summer Wine.
After watching the gruelling mountain climbs on the Tour De France yesterday I was all hyped up for today's monster ride around the three counties of Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire.
A lung busting six hours in the saddle and a torrent of regulsr abuse fro passing truck drivers and boy racers.
They'll never understand the sheer joy of clogging up the country lanes and the release of endorphins!
Well it's as near to a holiday as I'm gonna get, but first circumnavigating these pesky horse riders..
I spent half my time avoiding the monumental piles of horse shit and wheel buckling pot holes.
Made a new friend..
In this pic we have Bulls, bullocks, a couple of pigs and a llama in the distance..
I was really hoping to snap some falcons that nest in the giant telescope that is Jodrell Bank.
I managed to get right under it during lockdown but no such luck today, the whole area was cordoned off for a festival, this is the nearest I got and it cost me dear!!
I hope you appreciate this pic..
..in my excitement to get a snap and in my dehydrated state I neglected to unclip from my peddles and ended up on a hump back bridge tarmac Road cursing and swearing " Not fucking again! "Last time I use these fvcking cycling shoes! The normal peddles are going back on next time out.
The Sun setting on another day, check out the Sun's Sun, weird pic...
If someone could do the honours and enlarge the pics I'll get you a beer in sometime.
Cheers.
Nice pic, I love to see pigs living free range. They're intelligent animals and deserve a decent life.
I also spotted a tractor and a dumper truck in the background.
It's nice to see you out and about on your bike Joe, there's far too much negativity around about b@stard cyclists.
Great pics, Joe! Why are they so small, were they taken from your phone?
Missing the English countryside and the animals. Nice black horses.
Make August white then you can buy a flashy new laptop in September.
Whilst taking advantage of the 30oC heat in the saddle today I fear I may have been a victim of an alien invasion..
Even the sheep bleeted and ran for their lives!
Not I!
Closer inspection was warranted even in my dehydrated state..
Sticks, leaves and branches rained down upon your humble narrator from this old Oak tree as the aliens struggled to control their vessel.
Fortunately I survived to tell the tale
Ruddy ages since I last got out for a spin on the road bike!
Dusted it off, oiled the gears and chain then I was away.
Decision, decisions!!
Canal tow path or old railway track??
Canal it was, time to give these puncture proof tyres a test..
A gaggle of geese..
Thank goodness Uncle Albert wasn't about!
Lubly Jubly..
Cobbles look nice but they are a pain in the arse when cycling..
Cobblers to Cobbles!
Craving carbs now, forgot how ravenous cycling made you..
Pork Chop and mustard mash with ggggravyyy!
^^Nice. Enjoy the summer temperatures. Too brass minkeys down under for cycling for a while.
