Started one travel thread and left it unfinished due to lack of interest.

This is after all a Thailand website. As much as the members here like to fawn over their travel picture threads, I'd think most that come to this website do so for Thailand-related info. So one'd imagine that's what should take prime position on the home page.

TBH, Google images will give me an overdose of pics of anywhere in a second.

^I found it just now. Never seen it before. Good effort FF and I love those slippers

    https://teakdoor.com/travel-the-world...th-africa.html (2010/11 Around South Africa)

I am boycotting the picture thread business until the width is increased to 1024. OK so I haven't done a travel thread since I went to Tokyo in 2010* but I have got a trip planned to Seoul quite soon!

    https://teakdoor.com/china-korea-japa...-to-tokyo.html

Seriously admins people 800 is a bit foked up and Bobcock has sized all his U.S. pics 800 wide to avoid the yellow warning bar so we cannot enjoy his professional pics in all their panoramic splendour.

*actually that is not true I did a Melbourne picture thread too

https://teakdoor.com/australia-and-ne...melbourne.html (Nearly got my brains eaten in Melbourne today)

Just found the thread that the OP is referencing. If not for this discussion, I'd probably have missed it altogether which would be a shame as there really are some fantastic pictures there, courtesy of Bobcock. And yeah, it's a shame we can only see his stunning pictures in 800px size... :/

If the lounge is the first thing people see when they find TD for the very first time, there's a good chance they will never come back. For an outsider looking in it must seem like a fucking mad house!

However, if they start with the quality content first and hang around a bit longer, they may learn to understand the lounge and it's big boy banter ways.

The thought of somebody coming to TD for the first time, and and leaving without even knowing travel threads like Bobcock's latest one, even exist, is madness.

Well done Admin for sorting it out.

Have to agree with KW. If I have nothing to add other than good pics, I`ll send it in the form of a green, rather than cluttering the thread.

Ive got say though, I agree with your post 100%. Which is why I havent posted my latest trip report form the states and havent been posting much either.

Well at least you are acknowledging by doing that you have appreciated what they have done ,, ok no ones gonna keep saying nice pics a 1000 times ,, but many people could ( if they could be arsed ) add to in other ways ,, ie share the experience of the last time they were there , what memories funny or otherwise , I,m sure many of us have been to a lot of these places and have memories ,,,,,,,or mabe half of us just bump around like driftwood wearing blinkers .

Fair point. I just enjoy reading the thread most of the time though. Most of the time, posts go unacknowledged unless your part of one of the cliques.

The picture threads are great. The Socal level debates sre getting real stale. I would love for a simpler way of downloading photos.

It doesnt get any easier than opening a photo hosting account like photobucket then clicking copy img url and then pressing control and v straight into the reply box here

    I never used a cloud service yet S.I.T. so I don't know

Photobucket is good, you can just drag and drop your pics straight into it to upload.
I have Picasa on my mobile too, I think thats linked to my Google account

The photo threads are not always interesting to view, but there will be something for everyone.

I have looked at many without adding comment and admit those that post photos with blanked out faces are the worse to view.

Probably just my opinion but it adds so much more when you can connect a particular thread to a member.

It kind of goes along with what fly free quoted as to just checking out google images!

There is a world travel forum were members post there travel threads but I would think potential new members or guest do not look into a Thai themed forum to view photos of England for example.

Not to say currant members including myself do not enjoy them as its plain to see they do.

I take most interest in places I have never been to and maybe never will get the chance to experience!.
Seeing a place you have visited is also nice even if just to view it from another,s perspective.

unless you post lots and exceed your bandwidth, and then you get this showing instead of the photos , until you pay up or the start of a new month .

I've always been pretty popular...so what does this mean?

This means that you've hit your bandwidth cap for linked out images this month.
When we talk about bandwidth, we're speaking of the measure of total data transferred in a period of one month. Free users are limited to 10 GB of bandwidth per month. Plus users have unlimited bandwidth.
Bandwidth consumption is calculated by the amount of data that is transferred from your account to other sites across the web. The size of the image/video will increase the amount of bandwidth you are using when linking them out to other sites. For example:
The average photo file size on Photobucket is ~2 MB. Lets say you link out 100 photos, each 2 MB in size each, to your blog/website/ebay listing/etc. 100 images at 2 MB each means that you are linking out a total of 200 MB in data. If each of those images were viewed 50 times a piece, that would equal 10,000 MB of bandwidth used, thus hitting the 10 GB cap (10,000 MB = 10 GB). Similarly, If you linked out only one photo at a file size of 2 MB, it'd need to be viewed 5,000 times to reach your 10 GB bandwidth cap.
Bandwidth is only taken into account for linked out images.
