Thread: Facebook status updates and all that stuff

I am fast falling out of favour with Facebook. Well, I have been for almost 2 years anyway, as they get more and more intrusive into both my computer and my regular internet browsing. If I am looking at a website to buy pig shit, I notice there is a section on the page where if I click 'like' all my FB friends can see that I like reading about pig shit and can also read the page. It's everywhere for f**ks sake.

A couple of years back FB announced that all photos uploaded were now legal property of FB. Erm, why would they give a shit if it's just a harmless networking site?



This year I was inundated several times a day with a pop up that wanted me to make it my home page. No thanks, I was told should I do that, they could also worm their way into your PC and check out my pictures of sloths and favourite celebrities with next to nothing on. I imagine many jumped at the chance though, and are probably the likes of whom post cringeworthy and over personal status updates, like:

Could you imagine Dirty Dog posting 'off to blues factory now should be fun LOL'

Or Smeg: 'Going to meet ant now, won't be back til morning LMAO'

Or the likes of...

'Goodnight everyone, I'm tired...off to bed'

'I'm really proud of my lovely daughter ________, she's beautiful and I love her'

'Going to clean out my sons bedroom, his socks and underwear are everywhere lol'

I could add more but I'd throw up all over my keyboard.

I did join up last year but deleted the lot after 1 week.

A load of shit as far as I was concerned.

The only forum I follow is Teak Door as I need to keep well tuned in following how many Katoeys DD has shagged this week and whether he has got rid of his herpes or not.

I don't like most of the updates, as I don't care that somebody I haven't seen in decades is eating at a certain restaurant, or drinking at some bar, or they gained something in Farmville.

However, I did catch an update from someone today that let me know a friend of mine from way back passed away from cancer.

I don't like receiving drinks that I can't drink.

Someone I know was trying to delete his account and I saw him a few days later and asked him how he was getting on, he was at the stage where he had to fax documents to them....

It's soooo trendy to bash facebook, quite antidisestablishmentarian of you, just like Rick from the young ones. FB works however you want it to work, don't like those stupid games, hide them, someone bores you with updates about their dental hygiene, block them.

It's like blaming tv for the fact that you leave it on the reality tv channel.

A guy I know quit the police force to start at another job. A few months later he decided he didn't like his new job and tried to rejoin the police force. Normally, if you'd been gone less than a year it would be no problem to get back in.
Unfortunately for him, he made the mistake of posting, "TJF" - The Job's Fucked, (a well known saying in the job), someone in the Careers Office (who happened to know this guy) saw the post and stopped him from getting back in.
