    BahtSold is Wierd

Sorry Mod's if I put this in the wrong place....I'm in Pattaya, & want to post an ad on BahtSold.com.

They are now more difficult to navigate than Craigslist, Ebay, Paypal (try to get their phone number), and Google Adwords combined.

This is from a seller/advertiser point of view.

I gave up. I've never seen such a set of drop-down menus that didn't work in my life!

It used to be so simple!

    Hi,

Heartily agree the site now has a lot more OPTIONS when posting adverts which may put off some advertisers. But these are mostly just OPTIONS and if an advertiser wishes to post a bare-bones advert, it's up to the individual.

Here are some examples of the 'annoying' (to some sellers - but not to most buyers) options:

    Motorcycles:

Posted by? (owner/dealer/business) -Tip: view their other ads in their profile...
    Ex Rental? (Y/N)
    Ever Dropped?
    Tax paid?
    Registered?
    Insured? (months remaining)

There are more bike options as well, all designed to give the buyer a more accurate overview of the bike on offer and not waste the sellers time with therefore redundant questions.

    Boats:

    Model
    Length
    Beam
    Engines
    Hours
    Registry
    Condition

There are more boat options too and if you've ever looked at buying one, you'll want to know everything from hours on the engine(s) to current registry status.

    Land:

    Posted by? (owner/agent)
    Beachfront/Residential/commercial/Farm
    Title?
    Walled?
    Filled?
    Water?
    Electric?

There are more land options as well, again all designed to give the buyer an accurate overview, therefore weeding out timewasting queries to assist the seller.

    Businesses for sale:

    Posted by? (owner/agent)
    Lease type: (direct/sub-lease)
    Freehold/Leasehold:
    Company included?
    ROI: (years)
    Avg Monthly expenses:
    Avg Monthly Profit:

More options are in there as well, all valid questions a buyer will have. Some may not wish to disclose profits etc, that is up to them of course.

    Houses/Condos:

Are all listed into areas i.e.: Sukhumvit BTS/Thonglor (etc).
Pattaya is divided into: Walking St/Beach Rd, 2cnd/3rd Rd, Wongamat, Naklua, East Pattaya, Mabprachan Lake, Prantumnak, Jomtien, Na Jomtien, Bangsaray, etc.

    WHY all the areas?

-Partly to be able to show Sqm & median price comparisons by area, year of build, type, etc (coming in Dec). Finally, we'll all have a Thailand wide real estate price comparison engine (with monthly area statistics charts).

This may be more practical & accurate than reading the latest 'property news'/advertorials in one of our newspapers/magazines.

I.e: Company XXXXX reports the current price per Sq M for new condos in Silom is 250,000 baht Sq M (opposite page shows an advert from same company promoting off-plan sales for new development in Silom at 250,000 baht per Sq M....)

Areas also make it easier for viewers who are only interested in a property in a specific area, say lower Sukhumvit. They don't want to sift through an entire country (like Craigs Thailand) or an entire City (like other 'easy to post' sites).

-There are many categories as well, especially in 'articles for sale' such as:

    Power/Hand tools
    Restaraunt/Bar Equipment
    Pool/Games Tables
    Sports Gear

    ETC.

However, some prefer to simply select 'Other Articles' category and seldom be found...

To sum up, heartily agree the new site has a LOT more options but for those who don't feel they are important, they can ignore the options and just post a 'simple' ad (and get all sorts of doubly time-wasting questions...)

-Hi, just wondering if the bike has ever been dropped? Greenbook?

-Does the business come with a Co Ltd? How long in business? Profits? Staff?

-Is the land title Chanote? Is there water/electric?

-Has the car ever been in an accident? Manual or auto? Blue book?

-How many hours on the boat engine? Where is she registered?

and on and on and on...(or, just add the info in the advert?)

Last, 'some' 'may' (or not) agree with this advertiser (who always adds as much info as possible) and states in every advert:

"Baht & Sold is our number one advertising source in Thailand, giving us many times more hits per ad than others do and continuously providing us with more sales than any other advertising source, paid or free. If you have something to sell, please go to Baht & Sold to get it done."

May not be everyone's cup o' tea but always trying very hard here to get you more sales and clients (for willing advertisers that is).

Oh and if this is the same username 'jaywalker' from Pattaya who 'gave up' on the site, note your ad totals stats are: 3 Ads/21 replies... (sincerely hope it was useful for you and perhaps give it another try sometime).

    Thanks all.

So you have got loads more options but you still haven't sorted out the website so that it displays properly.
The writing overlaps in places making it impossible to read.
Why is it still like this months after I reported it to you ?

You made it sound to anyone looking in that the site displays incorrectly for everyone, without bothering to mention your use of larger text and non-default font in your browser settings.

The site is designed to display normally using your firefox default settings (my browser of choice too btw) .

You stated that you prefer to use a larger and distinct font, thus changed your firefox font and size settings.

The result was you see text over-runs as your text view is now larger than the smaller table that the text is in.

I suggested that you view in default text size and font, and that I would request that the site is adjusted to fit more text sizes & fonts. Unfortunately making the site appear normally with every conceivable font and text size is further down the priority list and admittedly an oversight.

To date, received exactly 1 complaint regarding this specific issue and this was from you. Hopefully it can get resolved.

Fortunately the site traffic, ads and responses are up over 30% and growing since re-launch. However, as in any total re-launch, it will take time to fine-tune all aspects.

    Thanks

as in any relaunch, there will be bugs

but a lot of them could have been sorted out before unleashing it on the public

You only received one complaint because I was the only one one who went to the trouble of bringing it to your attention. You may have a thousand more users with the same problem.

I have never had this problem with any other websites, only yours and I spend a lot of time online.

B&S - you need a designer that really understands CSS and all the different browser quirks.

wasn't B&S owned by a former TD member who complained online his business has been stolen by some dodgy partner and he had to let go of the website and everything else ?

the B&S website looks like shit, was it done by a 12yr old ?

that's the problem when you hire 500 THB a hour student to do web design, they will develop only for one specific browser or their own browser and forget the rest of the world

speaking of website going fuck ways, Google is trying to "upgrade" their simple look with complex HTML5 and CSS and other AJAX non-sense

result: slowness, incompatibilities across browsers, in particularly FF, and seems to work only with Chrome

    I wonder why

Naaa, don't need all that rubbish, just needs a small sign at the bottom stating, "Best Viewed in IE6 or Firefox".

Yes I can remember that but it was a long time ago.
First he got turned over by his partner but I think he got it back again and it is the same guy running it today.
Secondly TV seemed to do the dirty on him by starting their own classified section.
