Those unsung but reliable actors...add yours too

William H. Macy - A brilliant, experienced actor, from Boogie Nights to Fargo, he never disappoints.

Steve Buscemi - You'll be surprised at how many films you've seen him in.

John Turturro - Spike Lee has always been a fan and has cast him in almost every one of his films, right from way back in '89. He can do multiple roles, from comedy to serious stuff.

Hugh Bonneville - British actor who has appeared in everything from Notting Hill to Eastenders to Tomorrow Never Dies.

These are the actors who don't always get headline roles, but these guys are the ones who make up the numbers, always reliable in supporting roles.

Buscemi had a time (late 90's early 00's) where he was talked up big time. Almost the same with Turturro - The Jesus.

John Turturro in 'What Just Happened' is just utterly brilliant.

    ^Bloody hell.

Actually, maybe I've been a bit hasty in putting on such a list of 'supporting actors'. He was most excellent in 'Fargo' and 'The Cooler'

Have you seen the American version of the tv show Shameless yet?
One of his best roles yet, though none will top his role in Fargo.

How about adding jackie wright to the hall of 'fame'
    who ?
the little bald fella off Benny Hill,
remember he used to get his shinny head drummed..

here he is is again, looks like he's getting a match struck on his head this time-
with a nice painting behind then,
pieter bruegel? or maybe Hieronymus bosch ?

he's not in this scene -just included it for fun,
what the heck is Benny up to ?

Benicio Del Toro gets my vote. A very talented and versatile actor. Compare his roles in Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas:

    With The Usual Suspects:

    And Traffic:

3 excellent, and very different, performances.

Brad Dourif- quite probably one of the best screen actors in the world actually. Heard of him?

You've certainly seen him. Some of his many faces-

He was good in "Scanners" as well. Or was he .? I can only remember the exploding head scene.

The Mexican guy. He's very good at playing psychotic Mexicans, it must be said.. If you need a Mexican-looking nutter, this is yer man.

Rather odd choice of actors to place in the pantheon of unsung thespians.

Benicio del Toro and Steve Buscemi can stand alone in any production but I suppose the OP's point is that their names are unknown among the herd only attracted by formulaic rubbish concocted by accountants.

I imagine some would also include Paul Giamatti ......
