A view of Ho Chi Mihn's tallest building at night from right opposite the bus station.

I actually thought this place was open to the public and someone handed me a glass of wine when I walked in. I then realized I had gate crashed a wedding, finished my wine and exited stage left.

Yes there are back packers in Ho Chi Mihn and this is the place to find them. I sat in the pub for hours drinking beer trying to get a picture of this stunningly beautiful Tiger waitress and she always managed to evade my line of sight.

For those that know Ho Chi Minh this is the Seventeen Saloon and the band were absolutely awesome.

In fact I was sitting with some farang at the bar and we were going to auction off that body suit the female singer was wearing.

Foxy looking lady with a great set of lungs.

Actually Vietnam, well Ho Chi Minh is a very interesting place to visit and they tell me the beaches are beautiful and clean. A pleasant change from Pattaya.

In fact a lot of people I met spoke perfect English and their mannerisms were very polite and cordial.

If you can manage to avoid being wipped out by a motor bike rider I reckon it would be a great place to live and from what I could see there a lot of professional ex-pats plying their trade there already.

I can't wait to take the family there and see how we go................

They are in the market already and ask your supplier.

I specialize in paint containers, although we do supply Castrol, Mobil and Shell and for some reason they don't want them.

Yeah I know they are available but none of the containers/chemicals/liquids I use has provision for them unlike back home in OZ......

Its actually nice to bung a tap into a 60lt drum of thinners or acetone and be able to pour off a litre or 2 instead of getting bathed in it as the local drums don't allow for a tap and you need to tip the drum over.

Same goes for the plastic 20lt clothes softener's I buy for home.... no fooking provision or a tap.

thanks for the pics LT, I was thinking to go there again recently, loved Saigon

food is fantastic there, loved the local Kho San road with that old R&R bar from the 70s

there is a nice beach nearby, looks like Cannes in France with nice colonial buildings etc...

    it's about 100km from Saigon,

^ Thanks mate and Saigon (Ho Chi Minh) definately has a nice feel about it and I am not referring to the woman, although there are some beauties there.

I have been promised a visit to the beaches during my next visit and am certainly looking forward to seeing some real surf. Apparently during the Vietnam War many of the serviceman surfed regualarly and during their R&R.

Actually this is the backpackers area, I drank in the pub on the right corner, it has a late night disco upstairs which I didn't attend but preferred to walk around the corner where I found a little hole-in-the-wall pub and the people there were great.

The drink prices there were really cheap, probably half of what you pay in Thailand.

All in all the tourists seemed really chilled out, the locals were welcoming without being pushy and apart from a brief tropical downpour a great evening.

I prefer Saigon to Hanoi, in part because of its historical value and also because it remains SE Asia. As you move North, the country becomes very Chinese, and Hanoi despite being nice in terms of historical architecture, doesn't have the same "activity" level as Saigon, and that despite the cahotic motorbikes traffic

been there, downstairs was nice, but the disco was quite lame. Full of mingers, didn't see any nice beauty in the area except in a cybercafe nearby where the girl was stunning. She was giving me looks but I wasn't sure really if she was being friendly or being a hooker damn !!!

the real beautiful girls are in the country side, as I rode in the long journey bus, saw amazing country girls riding slowly on their bicycle, out of this world

^ Did you make it down to the Seventeen Saloon?

A great typical pub atmosphere and the girls behind the bar (not slapppers) are gorgeous and very friendly.

I walked in and was shown to my seat right at the centre of the bar, a waitress then come over with a special discounted drink menu and then was offered 2 for the price of 1 drinks and until 9.00pm.
Another stunning waitress, dressed in a cowgirl suit looked at my cigarette lighter which was nearly empty and then replaced it with a new bar one.

Popcorn, peanuts were offered and I entered a brilliant converstaion with 2 of the girls which was very pleasant.

The band (Philippino) were close to the best Asian band I have ever seen and the crowd in the bar were well behaved without being HiSo.

Great place and not expensive, I got pissed stupid and my bill was around USD50.00 and that included many staff drinks.

Well if you do give me a PM and I can arrange the cheap rate for you at the hotel I stayed in.

Close to everything but quiet, cheap, terrific rooms and huge bed, free internet, great bathrooms but no bath, close to the main markets and Restaurants, slapper friendly and 25 minutes from the airport.

Unfortunately that is the case mate.

I've pumped 3 years of my life and my money into these new designs and need to commercialize them before I can again go on the lash.
