^ Yep I saw the pictures........

Anyway after a great night out and a good nights sleep we head off back home but run into this place and somewhere I have always wanted to visit.

Not the town itself but the buddhist mountain on the right hand side of the city and when you are coming from Bangkok. Really impressive looking from down below so I asked the Missus should we go up and have a look.

When we finally found the road which wound its way up the mountain and arrived at the top we were amazed with the beauty, cleanliness and aura of the place.

Absolutely the most interesting and truly serene temples I have ever visited and we ended up spending a couple of hours there.

Here we are over-looking Nakon Sawan City.

There is also a Tourist Viewing Tower with a Restaurant but we were too early for them.

As mentioned the temples and Buddhist statues were absolutely amazing and here are just a few at the top of the mountain.

To my surprise a hawker turned up with his truck full of homing birds that when let go return to his cage and to be sold again.

Of course my 2 littleuns wanted to do their good deed for the day and give a couple of birds freedom and I think the 2 they let go won't be coming back. From the looks of it they were heading for Pattaya.

Another thing I have never seen before is these good luck booths that offer a message and according to your Chinese Birth Sign.

More of the same and then off home over the Nakhon Sawan Bridge. Even the dogs up on the mountain were cultured as well.

I have to admit that the new road between Nakhon Sawan and Ayutthaya has to be the best road in Thailand. Along the entire length of it most of the traders are selling food and barbeque rat is a big seller. I didn't stop to buy any rat but did stop for these.

Some type of nut with the case shaped like a Water Buffalo's horns.

Kinda tasty but you need a ball pane hammer to break the fookers open.

Well we found a nice Hotel and the room was huge and clean and with 2 extra beds was 950 Baht for the night. You can find this hotel on the main road, after you cross the bridge adjacent to the main Wat and driving towards Big C on the right.

Now off to find a good traditional restaurant positioned along the Nan River.

The main town bridge leading into the heart of the city.

Phitsanulok's main Wat with the Town's biggest hotel in the background.

Looks like shredded and fried cat fish. One of my favorites and I like mine with lemon grass salad on top... Aloi Mak!

The wifey recognizes almost all of these places in Nakhon Sawan as she spent a lot of time visiting with cousins and other family members up in that area during her younger years. All fantastic photos by the way. Enjoying tha travel thread and the associated engenerring details earlier on.

OK, let me go view the follow on posts now.

^^ Thanks ST and really the Nakhon Sawan Mountain Temples is really a place people should visit if they get the chance.

I've seen so many and really I find it in the past quite boring but this place is somehow different, almost majestic and the family were well chuffed I took them up there.

    Ho Chi Minh Holiday

Fingers crossed, I hope to have won another project in Vietnam which of course meant I had to visit there.

After a 200,000 Dong trip from the airport I arrived at my new Ho Chi Minh home.

My colleague had told me the room he booked cost 27 USD a night and I wasn't expecting too much but was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. These type of Smallish Hotels litter the city and depending upon the area can be very cheap. I have been told the major hotels are very expensive so anyone wanting to visit Ho Chi Minh look out for these little boutique hotels and they are good value.

The reception staff were great, all speaking perfect English and when I went to the room I had to double check the price.

And the bed was enormous with the matress and pillows perfect. Too bad I am abstaining from filling up the beds these days but we could of had a bunch of cheer leaders on that one.

It was also made quite clear to me that the hotel was guest friendly as a lot of hotels in Vietnam are raided by the BIB for prostitution so you must be careful.

The hotel is located very handy to everything and one thing that amazed me, although there was heaps of traffic on the road you never stopped moving for more then 30 seconds and at the traffic lights.

The place is clean, the roads are good and Ho Chi Minh, with its European influence can be quite nice in areas.

One thing you notice almost immediately is that the girls cover all parts of their body from the sun.

Mate I would love to be able to answer your question but really don't know. I didn't want to walk up and have a close look as the owner may have thought I might nick it.

I have been told the vehicles/ machines they work the rice fields with are Russian supplied motor driven and they are as noisy as fok.

Yep mate and cheaper then the Eden, everything works and playing pool and the internet is free........

Anyway off to work and first stop is to inspect the factory site which is in the Southern suburbs of Ho Chi Minh section 2.

Quite close to the city and you can see the tallest building in Vietnam sticking out of the city centre like a sore thumb.

The people I am working with are of Chinese heritage and are into everything from running stock exchanges to processing food products.

The invested about 2 million USD 15 years ago and up until recently were the biggest suppliers of plastic PET bottles in Vietnam.

Today the machines are worth nothing and the factory is full of bottles they cannot sell.

Anyway their bad luck has given me the opportunity as they have decided to produce my bucket designs in Vietnam.

They have given me two adjoining factories to work with and to plan there production lines.

The factory above is still under construction which is perfect as we can put all their services (water, electricity and compressed air) underground.

Anyway too much work makes bucket makers hungry and I was treated to what I was told was the world famous beef noodles called Poo I mean Pho.

Ho Chi Minh City is very clean and quite green and this picture displays this fact.

The Poo, I mean Pho menu and prices.

I had the combination POO and it was delicious especially throwing in their supper hot chillies.

Probably right there Bob, the sweaty little bastards have no balls these days........

And with regard to the Chillis, I was warned by my mate and I scoffed at him having eaten chillis for years and these little blighters were foking hot. In fact hotter then what I normally have in Thailand.

After traveling around the city I was wondering how they manage all these motor bikes and they have a great system about organizing parking.

You pull up onto the kerb, a parking attendant writes you out a ticket and then he marks the time onto the seat. You return, hand over the ticket, he calculates the time parked, checks it with time written on the seat and he charges you accordingly.

    No ticket, no pay.........no bike.

Walking around the city was fun and this guy was doing a roaring trade with obviously very little over heads.

And Vietnam, being the second biggest supplier of coffee in the world have thousands of coffee shops everywhere.

I love the distilled local coffee in these little cafes.
