It all started with their acceptance of the roadmap by the reds, and then their refusal because some minor roadblock wouldn't satisfy their leaders.
The truth is they couldn't come to terms of having lost 30 of their men over little progress from the government offer before anyone was killed. Instead of cutting their loss, as anyone would do logically, the reds got greedy and unreasonable. Pride was dictating their movement, not cause or a political solution.
Now it seems that they are losing the battle in the streets (duh !!!) and want to negotiate. You don't negotiate with terrorists as it's not clear exactly if the red "terrorists" in the streets are directly under the supervision of the red leaders. If they are, then this is a simple case of "terrorism", if they aren't and it's a movement gone wild, then it's "vandalism" and "hooliganism". Regardless shooting them down seem to be the only solution as the police probably spent the budget for their anti-riot gears on beers and mia nois.
End result: 60 killed
What other solution do the reds have ? not much, their exit strategy is quite limited. They will need a complete surrender as they can't win this and more will be killed if their pride keep dictating the terms of their cause.
As for popular support, they have no support from anyone, after all they did, it's clear they were prepared and looking for violent confrontation. We all saw what they did, it was over the top and not warranted by any events. They lost it, and with that they lost everything. Now they are disintegrating politically, alienating the moderates and their "crowd". I hope the government will go after everyone of them for causing the deaths of so many. Those leaders need to be in jail for a long time for what they did.
This movement is a disgrace, and anyone associated directly and indirectly with them should be ashamed, or better yet, leave Thailand.
