The best name for a pub ever.

I was reading about someone shagging a Kenyan and it reminded me about a bar we used to hang out in, Niarobi in '88 not unlike some of the ones we know and love here.

It was called the "Day and Night bar" as it was open everyday and all hours.

They had an election and it got closed for a day. First time in many years. Loads of people wandering around aimlessly for a day waiting for it to open.

Well they got busy while it was closed and gave it a (long) overdue coat of paint.

It reopened the next day with the auspicious new name "The Modern Green Day and Night Bar"!

The Best Name for TWO Bars!

Down at the bottom of Greenwich part, just out side before you get to the High Road, there used to be two bars that faced each other on a small road.

One was called the Spread Eagle and the other?......
why, the Proud Cock, of course.

And who said the Brits don't have a sense of humor?
Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money.

I'm in WA as well but our pub names are boring as well. We have 4 of them and they are called:
    Gullivers Tavern (aka the 'Tav)
    Hotel Kununurra (aka the 'Hotel'?
Country Club (aka the 'Country club)
Ord River Sports Club (aka the 'Sporties)

Our closest town over the border is called Timber Creek, population of about 100 had until 2 years ago a pub with no doors as it was open 24 hours. It was part of the petreol station. Whilst filling up your car you could have a great conversation with some drunk cowboy who is smoking only 2 metres away. How that place never blew up I have no idea.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

In Victoria the town of Ouyen - which is west of Chinkapook and south of Nyah and Nyah West ( which i think is west of Nyah ) had a pub that was also a butcher....

Ah, Kununurra eh? I spent some time in Broome. That too had crappy pub names.

Pubs in Australia have gone down hill since the early '80's IMO.

Take Perth for example. The place has grown a huge amount and yet they built no new Pubs....Only sad "taverns" tacked onto the sides of malls.

There was a great pub in my area (Vic park) and was a nice place to pull in on your way home for a beer or go at night and watch a band. They then decided to make it a "trendy" bar (with a stupid name to boot), kicked out all of the blue collar types and lost a packet of money.

    Rant over.

That pub in vic park. On a corner I think on albany highway? Heading away from the city on the right hand side?

If thats the one I did my final year of high school in east vic park and we used to drink there. The barstaff all knew we were under age but as long as we only sat in the beer garden out the back and sent in the only 18 year old in the group to buy the beers then we were fine. I cant remember the pubs name.
