I personally know two
All this thread has shown me is that there are yet more people in mind boggling relationships and who obviously haven't got married for the main reason being that they are madly in love with each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together.
Maybe read Bobcock's posts on the thread.
Obviously, if before there were none and now there is one it would be a 100% increase.
However that doesn't really tell us a lot about a growing trend in a nation with 63 million citizens.
What I was getting at is this,
"Is this a growing trend of any any real significance amongst Thai marriages compared to Thai/Farang marriages"
Or is this mainly a dubious honour reserved for Thai/Farang marriages ?
Thank You CM, I thought I'd green you but apparently I've greened you recently....must have been pissed....555
Oh the good news is she's left me dinner, bad news is the kids are still here.
I'm missing her already.
Sorry to disagree 'Fabian'. I was married to a woman in the UK who kept her fathers name, out of respect for him. She was told from dot one that it would cause problems, and it did. Try explaining when going on holiday and booking your holiday as a married couple, with different names. Or stating, on a form, your marriage status and then in putting seperate surnames. It throws everything out. Believe me, I've been there. Go try filling a form out asking if you are married ? Reply 'yes' and then put your wife's name as different to yours. See where you get.Originally Posted by Fabian
Do it all the time on planes trains and automobiles.
Never had a problem, even booking tickets online where there can be a lack of flexibility.

I have reported your post

yes..one.....if you can call one quite a lotif you have none, then at least one appears, that would be an infinite increase

It'll be more work than is worth it finding references for this one.as for links to show that is happening at an infinite rate, my Thai is not good enough to go through all the papers
I have called a few friends though and none of us the know of any Thai/Thai marriages where the woman has not changed her name to the husbands
And I and my friends know of none so maybe not many. But we do know of quite a few farangs who have married Thais where the woman has not changed her name.but if I know two, then there must be many more
I was calling infinite quite a lot, but maybe you want to be a pendantOriginally Posted by Sdigit

....must have been painfull, but he will realise the advantages as soon as he learns to cook his own food!
there is no good reason for a thai woman to keep her maiden name if she marries a farang.
if she is good enough for you to marry and support, then your surname should be good enough for her.
if your surname isn't good enough for her, and she wants to be with you "forever", then why bother to get married?
why not just live together and breed etc?
i say again:
if your surname is not good enough for her, then SHE is not good enough for you

When's the big date?
Not sure yet. This year though.
Congrats.
Maybe head off to that Vietnamese Island Wayne Kerr was on for the honeymoon. Looks quite nice.
Or Newcastle of course.![]()
