This was why I started the thread. Care to list a few of these disadvantages? I'm pretty sure there must be a few, there must be a few advantages too, I would imagine. Just trying to find out other peoples experiences.

I'm not married, but probably will be in the not so distant future. She mentioned the name thing yesterday and was very keen on taking my family name as her own, as this is something I have never thought about I decided to make the thread. I have found it quite interesting so far.
