Labeling something you've grown up with as differnt from what you have little experience with. Same shit different slant.
"Keeping up with the Joneses," "Saving Face" What's the fuckin difference?

Keeping up with the Jones' syndrome, as I know it in America, is spending money you don't have so that you look as rich or as good as the next person. People even over extend themselves with credit cards to do this.

However, in Asia, people are taught to lie rather than admit a mistake or failure. Have you ever noticed that when you ask a question about a problem, you dont get the story up front - the full story on anything from a Thai comes in stages, little at a time. The Philippines is also great for this.

I think the biggest difference is Americans lie a lot just to have their way or get what they want whereas Asians lie to save face.

    Face

"You like to lie, call people names, discriminate - How in hell did you move out of kindergarden?"

I should have said something like this referring to people with those attitudes.

For people who like to lie, call people names, discriminate, etc, seems they would have a hard time graduating from kindergarden.

Asians don't lie, they just reserve the truth for special occasions.
