Brits cause near riot at Swampy

From The Daily Mail so probably rumour
    350 of them?

"Today an estimated 350 Britons clutching 'promissory notes' angrily crowded around check-in desks after they were refused permission to board flights. One British official described the scene as like 'the last days of Saigon'."

Seems Thai airways won't put them up in hotels.

When I passed through there the other day I saw a lot of folks camped out around the airport.

Not a fun place to be.

The photos in the DM link are worth a look, The vendor nonchalantly walking past a line of riot gear tooled up cops is just a classic.
    The 10th photo down.

Who are these be-socks-and-sandalled peasants? Can't afford a room in Bangers in the off season?? They should fook off to blackpool where they belong (or even better - bournemouth). Fok them off promptly with a no-return-allowed stamp in their passport. Might raise the class of the sex-tourists in the big mango a bit.

whilst Thai airways will not arrange a room, they are legally obliged to refund any expenses run up due to there being no flights

flight insurance also covers some people, although it can be classed as "an act of gawd"

Looks like the guy is a local government employee 'white lining' the road. Why was Police action required? Wasn't the line straight?

This company has touched the bottom, and even more expensive than some european companies.

Had two flights with them and not impressed at all.

Some were also without a meal or roof over their heads because non-European airlines - including Thailand's main air carrier - declined to offer customers hotel accommodation which must be offered by air carriers under EU regulations.

What a bunch of wankers, they've just announce big profits for this quarter too.

Au contrare, NR. Skegness is right over by Hartlepool if memory serves. Drove through there some years back as I had a buddy that was from Hartlepool and he told me I needed to see how the other 1/2 lived!
