How many suckers have fallen for this tripe.
A friend and I were taling about LCD tv's as he ask me if i have one and what i thought. He informed me that he bought a new Sumsung LED i think it was because it saves around 3-5% energy - he's shifted his one year old LCD into another room.
He told me he bought it as he and his missus want to do there bit by saving the planet! And it just got me wondering how many other people fall for this type of media bullshit.
So, you have an existing TV, and judging by today's trend people change on average once or twice per year. A high percentage of those people will perhaps transfer their old TV to a bedroom rather than "recycle" by selling second hand. After purchasing the TV, they have a sense of self satisfaction for doing their part by helping by the reduction of energy blah blah blah.
Here's the thing with these duped and easily gullable people. They don't realise how much production has been involved in manufacturering their new TV to save the 3-5% which they will no doubtedly change in the next 2 years, contributing yet again to more manufacturing output.
While i agree that the trends could remain the same with less efficient units contributing the same amount of production, the are those that buy just to do their bit.
If these people really want to contribute, then keep your existing LCD TV and run it to the ground before buying new.
The same can be said about eco cars. Most will buy as a second vehicle as I am doing for convenience of travelling round BKK. I'm sure the production involved will equal the use of energy if i drove my Pajero around the city.
Green, the latest marketing media bullshit.
