By a new LCD/LED and help save the Earth!

How many suckers have fallen for this tripe.

A friend and I were taling about LCD tv's as he ask me if i have one and what i thought. He informed me that he bought a new Sumsung LED i think it was because it saves around 3-5% energy - he's shifted his one year old LCD into another room.

He told me he bought it as he and his missus want to do there bit by saving the planet! And it just got me wondering how many other people fall for this type of media bullshit.

So, you have an existing TV, and judging by today's trend people change on average once or twice per year. A high percentage of those people will perhaps transfer their old TV to a bedroom rather than "recycle" by selling second hand. After purchasing the TV, they have a sense of self satisfaction for doing their part by helping by the reduction of energy blah blah blah.

Here's the thing with these duped and easily gullable people. They don't realise how much production has been involved in manufacturering their new TV to save the 3-5% which they will no doubtedly change in the next 2 years, contributing yet again to more manufacturing output.

While i agree that the trends could remain the same with less efficient units contributing the same amount of production, the are those that buy just to do their bit.

If these people really want to contribute, then keep your existing LCD TV and run it to the ground before buying new.

The same can be said about eco cars. Most will buy as a second vehicle as I am doing for convenience of travelling round BKK. I'm sure the production involved will equal the use of energy if i drove my Pajero around the city.

Green, the latest marketing media bullshit.

    The End
You bullied, you laughed, you lied, you lost!

I recently purchased a 24" LED monitor to replace my 24" LCD monitor, I give no farks about power consumption but the picture on the LED is not the best, A bit blurry infact..... Have swapped back to the LCD and whacked the LED on the missus's PC.

Quite the leap of logic -- I hardly think that neither your friend nor your conversation are significantly representative enough to warrant your generalised opprobrium and conclusions.

I bought a 32" CRT off Ebay for £30 when I needed a TV. LCD are rubbish, I get a far better picture on my TV than any LCD that my friend have paid up to a grand for, mugs

Yes, LCD is shit. CRT and plasma is still the better option.

Get over yourself why don't you. This is an internet forum, if uninterrupted ranting's what you're after then you should try a blog instead.

    Whatever you say, tough-guy.

Maybe one day when you're grown up you'll learn to engage in civilised debate and discourse instead of going off on one because someone doesn't agree with you.

More like 40% if you compare it a similar sized plasma.

My 40" Samsung LCD is great, never regretted buying it for a minute. Great for HD movies and X360 gaming especially. Superb picture quality.

The top end Pioneer Plasmas might have better picture quality but they are 4x the price.

Ditto... Except mine's a 52" Sony. I did regret buying the previous one, 46" Sony, but only because my boys broke it after a few months.

Don't take it to serious Jesus,, I think it is really just infatuation and not really love as he seems to feel this way about different people all the time, he must be Bi-Polar as well as Bi-Sexual, and maybe a tad schizoid, as well as low self esteem.

This is a valid point. Unless a new TV is needed makes no sense to dump a working one to get an LCD so you can save the planet.
