This memorial proposes a space that resonates with the feelings of loss and absence that were generated by the destruction of the World Trade Center and the taking of thousands of lives on September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993. It is located in a field of trees that is interrupted by two large voids containing recessed pools. The pools and the ramps that surround them encompass the footprints of the twin towers. A cascade of water that describes the perimeter of each square feeds the pools with a continuous stream. They are large voids, open and visible reminders of the absence.

I think they fuct this up. They should have built the exact same towers as they where. Nothing would have pissed off the terrorists more

The 3 week war that it took to take down Saddam and the time it took to take down the taliban killed less civilians then the 9/11 attacks.

most of the civilain deaths in both wars after the govts fell where muslim on mulsim. Sunni vs shite. So what you just said is bullshit.

You may want to look at the years of sanctions and slaughter prior to the invasion and calculate the number of civilians killed, by the coalition crusaders, for just being there. You may want to reflect on the genocide at Fallujah before you state muslim on muslim.

have another look - see where the curb is? The seat is on the "pavement", not the road.

Don't people ride pushbikes on the footpath over there? They do here.

^ Not really sure your point here. You said "projecting into the street". Its not.

If you want to shift it to "blocking the path", fair enough - but its a differnt discussion, and we will move to "people riding pushbikes on the pavement get what they deserve".

They ride anything they can get away with on the footpaths (sidewalks) in Bangkok. That's how you can tell Thonglor is upscale- no motorcycles on the footpaths.

Bicycles on the pedestrian footpaths are a hazard. It might be unavoidable for cyclists at times, but they should be aware that pedestrians have the right of way.

Whoa there a mo ! I ride to work 6am on the road its quiet ,, when I come home about 4.30pm its up on the pavement for me, I pull over and give way to pedestrians and the 4 or so I meet know this by now ,, as for riding on the roads at that time , the school bus has " nudged " me 3 times had a nearly full tin of beer thrown at me from a builders van cause I inconvenienced him for 2 secs , then I get all kinds of very rude words shouted at me ( probably deserved ) so add to that the twits who are texting just missing you at the last min , so its the path for me on the way home.

The ol Bill don't worry about that round here anyway , unless its a triple murder case they don't have the resources now
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

Yeah, but the point is, do you expect the pavement to be obstruction free for your benefit?

during our recent 2 month trip back to the States for the holidays, we were fortunate to returned back to Thai before the snows hit. The wife would have been just as happy to stay and enjoy the snow.

I still recall my wifes reaction to the first snow. She was enchanted. I actually had to force her back inside. She did not even realize she was freezing due to insufficient clothing.

    What's it like now Nigel?

Pretty much cleared here now, I didn't see any evidence of salting or gritters from the council though!
