Is the funeral in Japan or Thailand? Or does that not make any difference?
Maybe they could sit shiva for Doeramon.
Actually this is the first post of yours that I've seen lately that you don't sound mad.

Is that worse than “the mass cockroaches funeral” a few years back?.....a few hundred of them, I think
.....completed with parents, monk, naam-mon...tv & newspaper coverage nationwide

Many kids were crying for the lost of their beloved “pet”.

Sadly it is Thailand, there are hundreds of people, complete with all the monks chanting, and a 2 foot long Doraemon in his own little coffin, being wept for as they put him in the crematorium, one woman is having to restrained due to hysterical grief!!!

My wife see absolutely nothing strange about this.....god help the place!

    Here's a link!

Isn't it amazing, she was in hospital suffering from Cancer, yet instead of thanking the Doctors who probably cured her, or by donating some cash to the hospital or a cancer charity, she goes and thanks a doll and spends 200,000 baht on it's funeral!!!

Next they'll be marrying snakes and worshipping new holes in the ground.

It really is just as well that the average Thai will never get the chance to leave thailand.

Doraemon Doll Laid to Rest in Elaborate Funeral
    Tuesday, February 2, 2010

AYUDHYA, THAILAND - A Doraemon doll was laid to rest today in an elaborate Thai Buddhist funeral ceremony that spared no expense and cost the owner of the plush toy 200,000 baht (about $6000 US).

Plubplueng Ngamchareon, a 48 year old Thai woman received the Doraemon doll from a Buddhist monk when she was in the hospital being treated for cancer three years ago.

After her recovery she began to have dreams where the Doraemon doll would appear to her and give her advice and sometimes lottery numbers. She attributed her recovery, health, good fortune in business and occasional lottery winnings to her Doraemon doll; which she had come to think of as her own child. The doll even went to school! The woman hired someone to bring the doll to school every day where it had its own locker. (Whether or not the doll received good grades is unclear at this time.)

In October of 2009, the Doraemon doll visited her dreams once again to say goodbye and told the woman that he was dead. The doll instructed the woman to prepare his funeral. As is tradition, the 'body' was laid to rest at the temple for 100 days and the funeral culminated in today's cremation ceremony which was attended by a hundred people, including his kindergarten classmates.

Jumped off a 20-storey building in Pattaya. Luckily he'd just bought a fat life insurance policy which went to his "mummy".

Unconfirmed reports that it was heard arguing with a Pikachu doll prior to the fall.

anyway, Doraemon is not dead, I just saw him on TV

unfortunately, the boy did not use it properly and......

Are you implying that we shouldn't mourn the passing of this young, innocent good samaritan just because he was a few digits out on the lotto. The old boot was delirious, and might have misheard Doeramons accurate, yet futile, predictions.
