Anyone notice the increasing volcanic activity worldwide in the last ten years?....an omen, perhaps?
If it blows than it is God seeking revenge for all the ills America has performed over the last couple of centuries. Right?
^^ Fook I hope God moves Yogi Bear, Boo Boo and Ranger Smith before he lets fly.![]()
More a product of global media and awareness of events that before nobody noticed.
In fact there as not been a major deadly eruption in almost 20 years.

The irony of this is all the end of the world prophets and survivalist that have sold everything and moved to Montana will be fucked.

No we're not. We may be talking about the end of humans and a few other animals, but it's got to happen one day. The world will carry on after its latest Spring clean.Originally Posted by Milkman

I heard about this a few years ago, there's always hope.
This area has had major eruptions appx. every 30 thousand years. It is overdue now and the increase in seismic activity shows that the gigantic magma bubble below is under extreme pressure. However, geological events are extremely difficult to predict so it could be tomorrow or 500 years from now.
How many Americans could die?
If it goes kaboom will we get the likes of Bono and Geldorf appealing to the world bank to cancell America's debts?
If so, all you Americans should go and borrow as much as possible.
Not that it'll be worht feck all after but it'll make a nice fire to keep warm by.
OMG!
I hope this end of the world doesn't happen before the 2012 end of the world, or the 2014 end of the world, or that one that happened on 9/9/99.
Oh FFS.it could be tomorrow or 500 years from now.
Thread closed for the next 90,000 years. Is it true that the next caldera-forming eruption of Yellowstone is overdue?
No. First of all, one cannot present recurrence intervals based on only two values. It would be statistically meaningless. But for those who insist... let's do the arithmetic. The three eruptions occurred 2.1 million, 1.3 million and 0.64 million years ago. The two intervals are thus 0.8 and 0.66 million years, averaging to a 0.73 million-year interval. Again, the last eruption was 0.64 million years ago, implying that we are still about 90,000 years away from the time when we might consider calling Yellowstone overdue for another caldera-forming eruption.
^So EPCOT will be alright thenwhere they gonna bury all the dead amerikans?
You mean dig them out from under the ash and re-bury them?
Yellowstone is an amazing place. It must be the best place in the world, other than the Serengeti, to see great herds of large wild mammals and a variety of predators, not to mention it's unique scenic beauty. As a foreigner you'll be charged the same as the locals to get in, too, and the facilities are excellent. I would recommend all wildlife enthusiasts try to visit at least once, preferably in early autumn. . .provided it is still there. . .which it probably will be.

Yes... 'When...'
So what do you think it is in your psychological make up that requires you to avoid rational common sense in order to live in a constant state of fear and hysteria?
